This series was a first for shooting on tape in a conventional television studio but then being transferred onto film in order to have the flexibility in the editing as if it was all shot on film on location. This was the suggestion of John Lee the film editor and Antonia Bird as well as the producer Caroline Oulton. This created a much tenser and faster paced feel, more like a thriller grittier and more getting the feel of the times. The problem as can be seen in all the reruns of old TVs series is the very apparent difference of quality of the studio shot sequences when cutting to the location filmed sequences.
