Very satisfying flashback porn, made with care

Warning: Spoilers
Not as famous as it should be, CEREMONY is a wedding-themed hardcore porn film that is both arousing and interesting. I give extra credit to talented scriptwriter Dean Rogers (who wrote several Anthony Spinelli classics including TALK DIRTY TO ME), given that helmer "Fred Sand" is just an anonymous pseudonym.

The lovely and innocent-looking (at first, at any rate) Kristine Heller stars as Nikki, the bride-to-be, in what is probably her feature debut. Format is to have each participant in the wedding ceremony flashback to a sexual escapade, generally involving the other people attending. It's a vignette structure that works well, and would certainly be conducive to a big budget/big star softcore Hollywood remake.

Depending on one's tastes, the film suffers a bit from anticlimax, in that the best sex scenes are front-loaded into the picture (later scenes are kinkier but not as well-cast or executed).

Case in point is opening pair of scenes starring Desiree West, cast (as an in-joke) as the stereotypical Black maid of the house, as if the film were taking place in the '30s or '40s. She's named Mae, a typical in-joke recalling Mae West who generally had a cute, jive-talking Black maid in her great '30s films for Paramount.

Mae gives a pair of black panties to Nikki as "something borrowed" for her wedding, lapsing into a flashback of how she got them. Mae is humping hairy-chested Jeff Lyle (journeyman porn actor who looks like he should be playing a bear in gay porn) when the little-girl version of Nikki spies on them. Nikki tells her mom about this horror, but Mrs. Hilliard (Sharon Thorpe), far from being outraged goes upstairs to masturbate as she watches the duo in action, even ordering them around. Lyle delivers two money shots in succession, and Thorpe gives her own black panties to West as a reward.

Thorpe's erotic verbal delivery plus West's extreme beauty make this a classic pair of scenes, getting the film rolling at a high standard.

Ken Scudder portrays Uncle Lloyd (who is to give the bride away), seen babysitting in flashback for pigtailed Nikki, by a roaring fireplace. Scene starts innocently enough but after some excellent teasing escalates to incest as uncle deflowers the young girl. Heller's acting is terrible here, but like its most obvious softcore forerunner, Peggy Church tempting in little-girl voice in her classic THE ALL-American GIRL, this is terrific porn. Heller's expertise in deep throating Scudder belies the film's premise of her innocence, and in fact "tarnished" her character as far as I was concerned, but sex content always takes precedence over story values in these outings.

Paul Scharf is the best man Ted, recalling an odd occurrence where Nikki is in bondage tied to a chair as he makes love to young Paula (short-haired Laura Bourbon, a cutie). The forced sex continues when a masked blonde dominatrix shows up and humps Paula with a dildo, followed by troilism involving Ted. Ted has anal sex with the dominatrix and after his money shot there is a harsh jump-cut back to the wedding ceremony. This entire sequence comes off as filler, an obvious letdown from what has preceded it.

Incest is back with Beth (Monique Cardin), the maid of honor and Nikki's sister, recalling having lesbian sex with Nikki, romantically staged out of doors.

Back in the present time, vows are being exchanged in the wedding ceremony. "Forsaking all others" cues a flashback of Nikki being gang-raped by Joey Silvera (1-note snarl is his performance here) and Radio Ray Wells. This scene is just nastiness for its own sake, including a massive ejaculation shot on Nikki's face that only Rodney Moore fans could love.

SPOILER ALERT:

Final sex scene has Mrs. Hilliard flashing back being humped by Wayne (Turk Lyon), just back from the bachelor party. Finale is the end of the wedding with the groom being revealed to be...Wayne!

Heller is scrumptious and flanked by West and so many other beauties here that the fans get more than their money's worth. If the later vignettes had lived up to the earlier West and Heller ones, this would be a classic.
