Yeah, I heard most college students sang and danced practically everywhere in the 1940s.

"Fresh as a Freshman" was made by the comedy shorts department at Columbia Pictures. So why, then, is the film almost completely devoid of humor??

The story is much like a full-length story shoved into less than 20 minutes. A guy goes off to college and once there, everybody sings and dances and fights. While that might sound ridiculous, twice they have song and dance numbers...and one in the middle of a malt shop. Then, there really is a boxing match....which is what all the Glove Slinger films seem to have in common. Overall, it's a very bizarre look at college...and a not particularly funny one as well.
