One of the best puppet animation film I've ever seen
jpsalvadori2 February 2007
I've seen this film the first time in 2001 when I was in charge of the communication of a big French animated film festival. The film mixes in a incredibly subtle way three-dimensional puppets and two-dimensional painting on glass: the real life of the hero is shot in puppets and his travel to the fairy land is painted on glass. The film has a very special, dreamlike atmosphere; everything in the film is a piece of poetry: the light, the backgrounds, the way it is animated, the music of the Norwegian composer Magnar Åm, the voice over of the Hungarian actor Tamás Székely. And naturally the story of Ervin Lázár which is a poetry in itself. I like the story very much which looks like a fairy tale but with tiny things (characters, plot...) that makes it different and somehow extremely modern. Even if the film is an adaptation Andrea Kiss paints her own enchanted universe and invite the spectator in her own fairy land. As for me it was trip I will never forget.
