Normally, I only write a review for a film if there are no other reviews. So, when I saw that there was one for this short, I relaxed. Then, I read how the reviewer found the logistics dull.
This was so far from the truth that I had to reply. Instead, the miracle of social coordination between railways, offices, a bicycle, the post box itself and several key individuals each doing their job is remarkable.
Human beings are social animals, and by working together with a finely engineered division of labour, miraculous things can be achieved. Even if they are as small as a 'best wishes' from a nephew to his aunt being transmitted across hundreds of mile in less than a day!
Think: for over 95% of human history, or for tens of thousands of years, this was unthinkable!
Jennings could see the magnificent in the mundane as well as any documentary filmmaker I've ever encountered.
