I never wanted to be la-di-da.

A mistake in the outline : Delphine does not meet a rock star but a painter .

"Delphine " is a film a la mode ,so a la mode, so hip and so trendy it had become behind the times as soon as it was released.

For Dany Carrel, an actress generally cast as the girl from the people ,it was probably an act of self-renewal (although she had already played a heiress in her best film :"piège pour Cendrillon" /"trap for Cinderella"(1965 ).)

She portrays here a business woman ,young ,free and easy , who runs a chic magazine for women ; surrounded by la-di-da people , she does a little soul-searching after a nightmare in which she 's prisoner in a glass cage and in which a little boy shouts her name .

Director Eric Le Hung presses lovers, interviews with state-of the -art architect and fashion designers , nightclubs where you get drunk, phone rings slavery on Carrel who winds up panting for breath .

Unfortunately nothing really counterbalances this life of the young female Turk who makes her way of life in the late sixties : the scene where she meets her sick father is botched (and the excellent Monique Mélinand , cast as the mother ,was up to scratch); besides ,the depiction of her background -she seems to come from a much less privileged milieu than one may have thought -is only skimmed over.

The fashion designer (Maurice Ronet) makes up for the vacuity of his existence by mythologizing his own experience through an obsession with la Forêt de Brocéliande,Arthur,Merlin ,and co .

Delphine meets a painter (not really an unconventional figure, his pictures sell)(Frederic de Pasquale) and it's another cliché:the hippie return to nature , the sounds of silence ,but in a comfy maison de campagne ,par excellence the bourgeois dream of the time.

Wait for the final special thanks :they are revealing.
