Throughout the film, there are views of both a Silverhawks pinball machine, and a Thundercats pinball machine, both refrences to the other shows AIC was helping to produce at the time.
In 1987, Megazone 23 Part II was dubbed in English as an aid to assist Japanese students in learning the language. This printing, included as a prologue, the alternate ending that was animated for Robotech: The Movie (1986) which was mainly adapted from Megazone 23 (1985). In this footage, Shogo (Mark Landry in the Robotech Movie) is seen to hijack a fighter plane and defeat B.D.s plans. This prologue replaced the soundtrack from the Robotech movie with newly recorded narration that summarized the events of Megazone 23 Part 1. It was included on the out-of-print Japanese Megazone 23 DVD Box and Laserdisc. The animation in the prologue does not serve as a retcon to the original ending of Part 1 and thus, is not included in later prints of part 2.
Part II holds little resemblance to the character designs seen in Part I. The traditional animation style was abandoned in favor of a more experimental, realistic looking, design style.
Shogo's jacket says 'Sex Wax'. 'Sex Wax' is a brand of surfboard wax made in California.
The original ADV Films DVD included a poster with Shogo and Yui on one side and trivia facts and character sketches on the other side.
