Enjoyable OVA but...

I thoroughly enjoyed the animation, story, and character design in this anime. If you're a fan of fantasy and raw animated films, you'll definitely find it appealing. However, the ending felt somewhat unresolved, a common occurrence in many anime series. While the initial four episodes impressed me with their excellent character introductions, the final three episodes took an odd turn as the characters underwent a surprising transformation (which will become clear when you watch it). Additionally, the characters' overly childish behavior was a drawback, as they seemed to prioritize cuteness too much. Nevertheless, the anime remains enjoyable overall, thanks to its unique and original storyline.

Warning: Spoilers
After 4 long year with for the search of his lover Pai, Yakumo gores to Tokyo, there he finds a girl that looks and sounds very similar to by Pai. However, this girl doe not remember anything after her passed life other then the false of her being a grandchild to the Ayanokoji's and givin a new name called Pa-Bo. After their fight from the previous OVA's. Benares seals away Pai's powers and memories to prevent her from remembering anything or using her powers. It's up to Yakumo to make her remember again while struggling with her feelings.

I will be honest, and just say this sequel wasn't as good as the previous series and it does leave many unanswered plot wholes. Like how can that old couple just think Pai is there grandchild and the whole fake back story crap? Why was Pa-Bo/Pai very unlikeable in comparison to the OVA's. What the heck just happened in the ending? Are Pa-Bo and Pai two separate people now? What's going to happen to the rest of the quest?

However, at the same time it did still have some good story telling with some good fight scenes and visuals.

The English dub although the second OVA's had a better older dub then the first series however, I still recommend the Geneon dub. Also the old dub still though Pa-Bo's fake name was also Pai which does add some confusion.

All in all though this was a fun ride, a really anime if you are into like 90's style horror, romantic and adventure.

A classic

Aaah.. 3 X 3 Eyes is a true anime classic, it's got big monsters, a gripping storyline, characters you really care about and great animation for it's age.

Yakumo Fuji is an average kid from Tokyo, by day he hangs out with his school friends, by night he dresses in drag to work in a tran-sexual bar to make some money while his father is away in Tibet (well, ok, maybe he's not *that* normal). One day he runs into (literally) a young girl called Pai who tells him she was a friend of his father's whom she met in Tibet and that she is the last of the Sanjiian - an immortal race with a third eye - and that Mr Fuji told her to seek out Yakumo and get him to help her on her quest for the Ningen-Noso (sp?) an artifact that will make her human.

Just as their start their adventures, Yakumo is accidently killed by Pai's pet Takue, but in her Sanjiian form she gives him back his life.. by taking his soul and giving him the sign of the void. This means Yakumo cannot die which comes in very handy as you will see! The series follows their attempts to find the artifact and stop other bad guys from getting it for their own wicked ends. When it comes to parts 3-5 however, the story gets a little more complicated and confusing (a different company took over I think) but it's still good all the way through, I highly recommend it!

The continuation of the horror
GreyFox379 April 2001
this sequel shows what happened to pai. it seems she lost her memory and fortunately, Yachimo found her. yes, yachimo is still gettin his ass kicked as this anime over-emphasizes his immortal ability, but hey, he knows shaolin kung fu and explosives! i was disappointed in Pai's new attitude with her lost memory, but it at least shows what happened to her. not as good as the first one, but it ties up the loose knots.
