Bland but watchable.

I saw this on HBO and found it uninspiring and bland. It is the story of a kidnapping of an adopted child ostensibly for money but in reality ... yes, you guessed it ... by the real mother. The characters are credible although they are very plastic and the is a neat little twist to the plot which rewarded my perseverance in watching to the end. All in all this is as entertaining as a pizza but is certainly no gourmet meal.

You've been kidnapped. Nothing bad is going to happen.

Warning: Spoilers
This unpleasant violent crime drama deals with the kidnapping of a young boy and the anguish that it causes his mother and stepfather. They're already having problems due to stepfather Jack Wagner's toughness on the boy, and his wife Mary Page Keller wants him to go into therapy to deal with the issues causing the anger. When the kid is supposed to return from school, all they find is his lunch box, tossed out of the car by the kidnappers with a note indicating what's happened. The first scene of the film has this group robbing a convenience store so we know they're violent, and when they get back to the house they are staying in, girlfriend Tracy Gold tells them that they can make more money through this kidnapping. It's a very unpleasant film with unpleasant people, and Wagner isn't exactly all that pleasant either. Not a pleasant way to spend 90 minutes, and certainly not very original either.

title fits the story

Jack (Jack Wagner) is a sheriff in a small town called Caldwell in Oregon. He is married to Ellie, who is a real estate agent and they have a 10 year old son named Charlie, who Jack pushes around a lot. Sarah is young and on the run with her fugitive boyfriend Ray and his friends. When they arrive in Oregon Sarah acts like she has seen a ghost. In order to make some money she stalks Jack's family and comes up with a plan to kidnap Charlie. Ray and his friends agree to Sarah's plan, but what they don't know is that she has her own agenda. Jack Wagner is gorgeous, but I hate it when he plays the bad guy. When he doesn't use his irony like he did on Melrose Place after season 3 the character doesn't suit him. Tracey Gold played Sarah, she did a great job and it's nice to see her do serious roles. All around the movie wasn't bad.
