Sex & Nudity

  • The two primary love scenes in this film are very erotic and sexually charged with female nudity. They are in the second half of the movie and are both somewhat lengthy. The first one has lots of lead up and is easy to skip, it occurs when Naomi Watts invites the girl into bed with her. The second scene occurs abruptly (at the 2h 1m 30s mark), right after Watts pours herself some coffee.
  • A woman is lying on a couch in her underwear.
  • A woman masturbates while crying. The camera pans down her body and you see her nipples through her sweaty tank top, and then you see her move her hand up and down in her unzipped jeans. No genitals seen, but it's very clear what she's doing. However, it is more disturbing than sexual.
  • A woman stands in a shower nude, but the door windows blurs her out.
  • Female partial frontal nudity before a lesbian intercourse
  • One lesbian sex scene with full nudity. More emotional than erotic.
  • A woman removes her towel; breasts are seen briefly.

Violence & Gore

  • A decomposed body is shown on a bed, not too graphic but very disturbing.
  • There is a car accident, a body is shown. Two men fight and one has blood streaming down from his nose. A person is shown to be bleeding from the head, after a car accident.
  • A hitman shoots a person in the head. His hair is seen stiffened from the force of the bullet, and blood is shown on the wall. Two more people are killed in cold blood.
  • There are two short fist fights.
  • A dead person is shown, her face disfigured by decomposition.

Profanity

  • 3 uses of "fuck".

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Various characters are seen drinking alcohol and smoking cigarettes at parties. Drug use is sometimes implied.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • There is a jump scare with a devil-like being. This is considered to be one of the most scary and horrific jump scares of all time
  • The film itself can be easily catalogued as an psychological horror movie
  • A male body is seen laying next to a car bleeding yet dimly lit.
  • A creepy woman yells ominous things.
  • A dead woman's body is partially decomposed on the bed. We see a semi close-up of her decomposing face which is frightening to see.
