“Yoko and I always live about two-thousand light years’ speed when we’re working,” John Lennon says in one of the 1971 interviews unearthed on the new box set Imagine: The Ultimate Collection. “It’s usually moving very fast and there’s always a small hurricane around us.” But John was kidding about the “small” part—in 1971, he was caught up in a full-scale creative hurricane. His solo classic Imagine is an experiment he only tried once, making a state-of-the-art professional rock album with a rotating cast of top-notch studio hired guns.

James Corden enlisted “Game of Thrones” star Sophie Turner and singer-actor Josh Groban to perform the grandest version ever of the hugely popular kids’ song “Baby Shark.”
A gospel choir eventually joined the over-the-top (and classy) performance.
Here’s how the “Late Late Show” host set the whole thing up: “Once in a lifetime, you know, a song comes around and defines a generation. A song that unites us all together in beautiful harmony. John Lennon’s ‘Imagine,’ Marvin Gaye’s ‘What’s Going On?’ But never has a song so clearly defined a generation as the one we’re talking about tonight.”

“A song so iconic it’s been viewed nearly 2 billion times on YouTube,” Corden continued. “There’s only 7 billion people in the world. Think about that for just a second — it’s powerful stuff.

Eagle Vision will release restored and remastered John Lennon films Imagine and Gimme Some Truth on October 5
Drums loom large in Ringo Starr's legend, we hear in the Beatles film A Hard Day's Night. But movies loomed large in John Lennon's. The songwriting rhythm guitarist and mouth organ player was the first member to step out of the band to enlist as Private Gripweed in Richard Lester's antiwar satire How I Won The War. While he only had a minor role in the film, Lennon wrote the major work "Strawberry Fields Forever" while on location. Lennon, sometimes with Yoko Ono, made several experimental films, including Smile, Two Virgins and You Are Here and Rape in 1968. Eagle Vision will release two films made about Lennon, Gimme Some Truth and Imagine on Oct. 5.

When John Lennon headed into the studio in 1971 to make his solo classic Imagine, wth Yoko Ono and Phil Spector, he had a lot to prove. He wanted to shake off the shadow of the Beatles, yet also build on the band’s legacy. He was itching to leave his ex-bandmates in the dust — Imagine has his notorious attack on Paul McCartney, “How Do You Sleep?” But he also wanted to come to terms with his past and embrace his future with Yoko. He wanted both raging protest songs and tender love ballads.
