Jokers, circus masters and demonic dolls. Which TV characters terrify you? Den Of Geek asked its writers that very question…
The subconscious is a terrible place; dark, mysterious and peopled by spectres from the past. As a bit of a laugh then, we sent our writers journeying into theirs and asked them to drag out any TV terrors they found lurking in the shadows.
Some television fears had been ensconced there since childhood, others were more recent tenants. Some were morally terrifying; human beings with icy hearts capable of atrocities, others were simply… atrocities.
Join us as we count down in order of terror from the sort-of-creepy to the downright terrifying, the 50 TV characters that, for whatever reason, give our writers chills. It’s by no means an exhaustive list, so feel free to fill in gaps by adding your own peculiar television nightmares below…

Ah, the '80s. A time of cocaine so rampant that even movies created for an audience of small children were deeply affected. As an easily frightened young girl, I was one of the affected, and the effects remain strong to this day. Go ahead. Pop out from behind the couch. Wear a clown mask in my bedroom at night. Stab a goddamn hobo in front of me, it will do Nothing. Such is the consequence of seeing movies like those below.
9. Who Framed Roger Rabbit?
Yes, technically, this is not merely a kids' movie per se. But Judge Doom did fuck my shit up and for that it deserves a spot somewhere.
8. Mother Goose's Rock 'n Rhyme
I didn't do well with masks. You will learn that quickly as this list continues.
7. Follow That Bird
Okay, so Big Bird is taken away from Sesame Street by a social worker?...

Not many people have heard of this film, but those that have remember it fondly… as one Weird Children’S Movie!
As a little girl one of my favorite dolls was my Hugga Bunch doll. So, you can imagine my joy when my mom brought home a VHS copy of The Hugga Bunch, a puppet filled bonanza of craziness! Keep in mind that this was 1985. Fyi, my doll was not this terrifying!
The Hugga Bunch is the story of Bridget, a polite young girl trying to save her grandmother from moving to a retirement community and out of her house. After all, Grams is the only one in her family that gives her hugs. Her brother Andrew is way too into baseball to hug, and her parents are always busy with work. The only way for her to keep Grams in the house is to travel to HuggaLand and obtain...
