In the wake of the #MeToo movement that has rocked Hollywood over the past year, some actors who are usually recurring figures at the Emmy Awards are notably absent from this year’s list of nominations, particularly “Transparent” lead Jeffrey Tambor.
Jeffrey Tambor has been nominated three times and won two Emmys for his role as Maura Pfefferman on “Transparent,” but earned no nominations on Thursday. The Amazon drama and its lead actor have been under scrutiny in recent months after multiple women accused Tambor of sexual harassment.
Amazon launched an investigation last November after accusations surfaced against Tambor by trans actress Van Barnes, who worked as Tambor’s assistant. Shortly after news of the investigation, another trans actress, Trace Lysette, who had a recurring role on “Transparent,” also came forward, accusing Tambor of thrusting himself upon her.

Parkland shooting survivors David and Lauren Hogg appeared on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on Tuesday, speaking in detail about the exact moment they knew something was wrong.
“I saw kids I knew running and screaming and just the look in these people’s eyes, my friends eyes, I’ve never seen anything like it. It’s like what they show in movies, but no actor could ever portray that sort of trauma and terror,” Lauren said told Fallon.
“We ran into the tiniest room in the back of my class. And we hid in basically the corner of a closet in our classroom. We hid there for multiple hours.”

Gone are the days when HBO, PBS and Showtime ruled the documentary marketplace. Netflix and Amazon — as well as the recent emergence of digital distributors including Apple, Facebook, Hulu and YouTube Red — have changed the face of the docu genre: There is a newfound excitement around unscripted projects. But with the rapid nonfiction platform expansion has come a strong demand for content — and not just any old content. Content that taps into the cultural zeitgeist. Content that tackles the latest headlines. Content that audiences want to better understand. Or at least try and understand.
Major players in the docs field such as Netflix, as well as unlikely networks like E!, are clamoring for topical documentaries about issues including the Trump presidency and movements like Black Lives Matter, #MeToo and Never Again.
“Clearly people are consumed with these stories, and many top-tier broadcaster networks are looking to capitalize on that,” says Justin Wilkes,...

Transparent‘s first season without embattled former series lead Jeffrey Tambor will be its final one.
Jill Soloway, creator of the acclaimed Amazon series, announced the final-season news within The Hollywood Reporter‘s larger exploration of Tambor’s firing in the wake of sexual harassment claims.
“Hopefully it sets the Pfeffermans up with some sort of beautiful reclaiming,” Soloway said of the farewell run. “I think we’re going to get there with some time.”
