Sex & Nudity

  • The inmates make very graphic threats of prison rape, and it's very gay.
  • Other crude things the inmates say about stealing one's girl, which is what other prisoners who are bad would do. The first gay inmate talks about how somebody messing (sexually) with your girl is not the only thing that you have to think about in prison. In a crude way.

Violence & Gore

  • No actual violence, but the prisoners' tales are graphic and very unnerving. The first prisoner talks about stabbing someone. Another talks about suicide. It gets very physical when the teens get the inmates angry (no violence in that case though). In the beginning, one of the prisoner's violently slaps off one of the kids' cards.

Profanity

  • word "fuck" are used

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • The inmates in Rahway talk about their experiences going in and out of jail for various drug, alcohol, and armed roberies.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • One of the inmates, Aly, got right up into one of the kid's face and showed them that he got his eye stabbed because he thought that he was smarter than everyone.
  • The documentary, being a repeat of the 1978 documentary, superimposed onto an aftermath documentary, by Danny Glover, is hard R in all moments, with its educational value, being the only reason this is not R-rated/TV-MA officially. But this is not for kids to watch alone. UPN, which aired this particular follow-up, had the distinction of being cutting edge, which is why it was more popular than The WB (and more Warner Bros.ish too).
