just a bit of fun
kclambeth30 April 2007
this is not meant to be a show like mastermind; it's a harmless teenage show which i loved when i was a teenager.

it's everything young people want to be, talented and ambitious, living the dream in another country, with their friends. the songs are catchy, the acting's okay, but there not claiming to be RADA students, but they are talented and have fun personalities, none of the girls are tarty and no one is full of themselves.

having to watch a load of American high school dribble about not being cool and cheerleaders, it was nice to watch about people having a life and dreams.

Some people moan about their accents, well me being English, their accents are fine, normal and being from all different areas of the u.k, it's gonna sound odd to other countries, but not everyone in the uk is posh or a cockney, plus having to watch American shows a lot, i sometimes find American dialect hard but the programme wont suffer because of it, you learn the words, phrases, once you watch it more. it would be boring if everybody spoke the same.

in the UK lots of teenagers use the words, 'muffin' 'plum' 'muppet' etc, i think some people take this show too seriously.

s club 7 have all moved on to other things, jon lee is on the west end stage, rachel had a pop career, Hannah is in a BBC drama etc. and Miami 7 is still funny and harmless.

cute inoffensive pretty young people
SnoopyStyle8 April 2017
Airhead Hannah (Hannah Spearritt), Bradley (Bradley McIntosh), sex kitten Rachel (Rachel Stevens), Paul (Paul Cattermole), Tina (Tina Barrett), Jon (Jon Lee), and tough Jo (Jo O'Meara) are a British singing group struggling to get any good gigs. They are overjoyed when their manager sign them up as performers in a high class Miami resort. Instead, they find a rundown hotel run by cheapskate brothers Howard and Marvin Borlotti. By the end of the season, the kids decide to drive to L.A. instead of going home to England.

This is a manufactured bubblegum pop group. They are all photogenic. The girls are sexy cute and the guys are unthreatening pretty. The characters are essentially siblings in their relationships. There is no romancing between them. They find romancing outside the group. The show is utterly unoffensive or edgy. It is kinda cute with maybe a few actual laughs in the entire season. There are several catchy pop songs. The kids are generally pretty good performers and they seem to like each other. That's enough to make this work although the show is nothing to write home about.

Cute show for what it was
nicolecolee30 June 2022
I recall watching this in the afternoons after school growing up. Haven't seen it in years but recall this being a charming show with a pop group obviously generated by music moguls. Groups like this were really popular at the time. Cute humor and I was always a fan of their music. The kind of show you shouldn't watch if you are looking for award winning entertainment. Just watch it for fun.

Good fun!

It's not fair to criticize this programme for being what it sets out to be. It's a Monkees-style romp through scrapes in America with a charming and attractive bunch of singers, who (unlike The Monkees) at least don't pretend to play instruments! The music is good too. If you don't like it, you're too old! Dave Farmbrough (Age 34!)

Great Show!!
shark117 June 2000
S Club 7 is one of the best shows I have ever seen. Sure, they follow the life that every person wishes they have, but don't, but otherwise, great! They are fabulous singers, that make great music, and great "movies" like the Back to the Fifties. And I can't wait to see them this season in S Club 7 in LA. Hopefully they'll have even better songs.

So, basically, all I have to say is that S Club 7 is a great show, and they are all GREAT singers. That's all.

Great

This series of S Club 7 is so wonderful. The music is great, the characters are great and the plot lines are funny. This isn't your average teenie bopper band. There is something about S Club 7 that is so much different, it keeps me attached! I recommend this show to anyone, boys or girls, and of any age!

Better than The Monkees
Denard6 March 2000
The Monkees were a good show in their day, but this show is better. Unlike The Monkees and The Partridge Family, S Club 7 don't pretend to play instruments, they just sing and dance. It would be easy to dismiss them as a musical group because they were formed for the show, but when you hear them perform on the show you find out how good their music is. They usually perform one number every episode, mainly from songs that are on their cd. They're also very energetic in their comedic performances and it makes for an entertaining half hour. It is a kids show and it doesn't require deep thinking, but I think people will be suprised at how talented the group is.

"The A-Teens" Meet "Hangtime"
aimless-4613 August 2005
If you are reading this and wondering what the heck a "S Club 7" actually is, then you are probably a fan of either Rachel Stevens or Hannah Spearritt looking for things they did early in their careers. Rachel and Hannah appear to be the only members of the cast who have been visible in the industry since the BBC show ended and the group broke up.

I say "group" because the premise of the thing is that they are a seven member musical group-imagine "The A-Teens" playing the main characters on "Hangtime" and you will have a pretty good idea of the concept. Like "Hangtime" they placed a premium on diversity although they shot themselves in the foot by turning the black guy into a "step-and-fetch-it" caricature who is patronized by the other six members of the group.

The "Miami 7" tape opens with the group's first performance at a Florida resort. This becomes unintentionally hilarious when the owner makes them do "Tie a Yellow Ribbon" as their first song. Then they rebel and insist on doing their own songs-the producers try to dial up the contrast between the geriatric first number and the youthful zest of their natural style. Amusingly, other than exposing their abs there is almost no difference since the "S Club 7" style is just an updated version of "Tony Orlando and Dawn" Although the group actually had some hits, the BBC show just reveals their acting and performing inadequacies. The 1999 "Miami 7" episodes on the VHS tape have some historical interest because even a casual observer can see that Rachel and Hannah stand out from from the others talent-wise and charisma-wise.

A word of warning-although the VHS tape I watched was new it would not play smoothly and jammed frequently, the only tape that has ever done this in my player.

Oh God
coverme621 June 2000
Oh yeah, like this world needs another group of pretty-faced

teeny boppers who sing and dance so much they can put the entire

cast of "Rent" to shame. Here, we have a band of teens from

merry old England touring Miami, constantly running around the

beaches and mingle during the day, when at night they perform

their bad love songs. Well, that's about it for the lame,

formulaic plots!

The S Club 7 consists of 4 chicks and 3 guys. The dudes of the

club are just mediocre additions to the band, since it's mostly

the girls who do the singing and real performing! I have to say

Rachael and Jo are the hottest of the girls, but just like the

rest of the band, they can't sing or act!! I guess they can

blame their incapablities to be or singers thespians on their

annoyingly thick British accents. Sometimes they're so damn

incoherent that you can't understand a word they're saying! Now,

I am not making fun of their foreign traits. Roger Moore and

Cary Elwes are both English, but at least their accents aren't

extremely thick. That's why they made such good actors. As for

the S Club 7, guys, you gotta work on your performance pieces!

And stop singing lame love s

uninspired
JBoze31324 November 2000
I admit that I watch S Club 7 on Fox Family Channel, heck, I'm watching it right now...but the show really isn't very good at all. The 7 really have little talent when it comes to singing, and they couldn't act if they're lives depended on it. The show, however, is somewhat entertaining. The group isn't annoying like real groups, such as Backstreet Boys, N Sync, Mandy Moore, Britney, etc.-- who all have NO talent whatsoever, so it goes to make them even more annoying...but unlike all of these groups, S Club is watchable, and sometimes even fun to watch. Overall, it's a good show, if you ignore the lack of talent on the youngsters, and the ridiculous plotlines...not to mention the fact that the group seems to always have an awesome cash flow, tho none of them ever really have true jobs outside of the singing gig. A lot of the songs are really good, because as anyone can tell, on the recordings, their voices are totally different. It's a good show if you can bare this genre, but if you can't, stay away. 8/10

One word: formulaic
Talina_McFry4 March 2000
Really, there's only one word for this show - formulaic. It adheres to every single teenybopper show out there. Seven nubile young things who can sing and dance, having wacky adventures, looking for love, yet having the lives that we ALL want. Of course, you have your comic relief Grumpy Man, who is the boss in this show. You have your wacky storylines - "The S Club 7 travels back in time to the seventies to try and give their boss another chance at love and happiness." There is nothing even remotely original about this show. On very basic levels it is entertaining, but only if you can quietly accept the inexorable side-effect of your brain melting. Final word is, skip it. If you want a Monkees-esque show, watch The Monkees.

Teenybopper Pablum

I grew up watching "The Monkees", and "The Kids From C.A.P.E.R.". Both were superior to this wanna-be nonsense. The group's songs are worse than bland. The plots on the show were uninspired and boring. It's just a waste of TV time watching sickenly cutesy antics of a pre-packaged pop group. Only those under the age of twelve might find S Club 7 entertaining, and maybe not even then.

What the hell?
sandra83631 August 2001
This has got to a be one of the most fatuous shows on television. This show is all about 7 members from Merry Old England trying to hit it big in the USA. I mean, okay, grant that it has some funny moments and everything, but sometimes when the people talk, I can't even understand there articulation! Even sometimes when they begin a sentence , I don't get what is at the end of it ;so at the end before a break if they say a smart-aleck line, I can't even understand it, so I don't even know what they're saying because of their heavy english accents! People who have watched it know what I'm talking about. Example: (Not to say this quote was actually in the show, but they talk exactly like that!) `Teee-nu---w'yon't yu' he'v the lo' 'f it now!' See people! Things that are also not so funny is how they treat the black guy, Bradley. His character is so racist and stereotyped. He's the black guy who is cocky and egotistic---, he the only one that raps in the songs, he's stupid, not too bright and foolish and the most ridiculed. And all the other white S Club 7 members patronize him on a daily basis. He also druels over and flirts with every white girl he sees. I guess that's what everyone expects of him. My summary Is that this show is dumb. The songs are dumb and are just as unoriginal as the other teeny-bobber songs out there. Either like it or you don't. Well, tah-tah and crumpets!
