A perfect couple
jotix1009 July 2009
Poor Lorenzo, an unemployed Spaniard, whose wife, Anita, insists in feeding him a store bought instant soup because it is the sponsor of a television contest searching for the perfect couple. They have been married for some time, but the thrill of their union is gone. Hope comes in the way of Don Tadeo, an older jeweler, who needs a person to help him do things he can't do for himself. This old man has illusions of being the next recipient of the Nobel prize of literature, Lorenzo, who needs an income, goes along. To make matters worse, there is a hint that Tadeo is gay.

Lorenzo meets a woman at a party who turns out to be a gold digger. She gives the man sex in exchange for money. Unfortunately, she had other plans for Lorenzo, like blackmail. Everything comes to a head and Lorenzo's life becomes hell as Anita learns about his escapades.

"Una pareja perfecta" directed by Francesc Betriu, is based on a novel by Miguel Delibes. The adaptation doesn't go anywhere because it is predictable. Antonio Resines is Lorenzo, the poor guy whose world comes crashing down on him. Veteran Jose Sazatornil is Don Tadeo. The excellent Chus Lampreave plays Don Tadeo's sister Dona Cuca.
