Spoilers below for Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi is an emotional film, for many reasons, markedly because it is the last time the late Carrie Fisher will appear onscreen as Princess-cum-General Leia Organa. I made it to the end in one piece, though, a bit misty eyed perhaps and with the occasional ache of melancholy, until a dedication played midway through the credits: "In Loving Memory of Our Princess, Carrie Fisher."
Then everything came bubbling up and the theater chose that moment, as a truly unexpected amount of tears sprung forth, to flip on the house lights. And, of course, I wasn't alone. Looking around at the other damp, red eyes, the blotchy, streaked cheeks, it was and still is unfathomable to imagine what the next Star Wars episode will be like without Carrie as Leia, to think of how her absence will be explained away. (Episode IX was meant...

Last night in La a handful of lucky critics got to attend the junket screening for Star Trek Beyond, and while full reviews are still under embargo, a handful of reactions are starting to pour out over social media. For the most part, it seems like everyone enjoyed the film, with the general consensus being that while it’s not perfect, it’s still a ton of fun.
You could argue that of course these critics will be praising Justin Lin’s entry into the franchise, as if you’re going to be attending the junket for a movie, it wouldn’t be in good taste to bash it over Twitter. And while that is somewhat true, we tend to trust a lot of these people who’ve Tweeted and it’s certainly exciting to see their enthusiasm for the new Star Trek.

Stepdaughter Eliza Reed Bolen, who serves as executive VP of Oscar de la Renta LLC, and her husband and CEO Alex Bolen released a statement Tuesday, honoring the late fashion icon. “He died exactly as he lived: with tremendous grace, great dignity and very much on his own terms,” they wrote.
The two promised to carry on the business in honor of de la Renta, but did not reveal the fashion designer’s cause of death: “Oscar’s hard work, his intelligence and his love of life are at the heart of our company. For all those who felt that Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania is Shashank Khaitan's debut film, this news will be a bit of a shocker as his debut film was Sherwani Kahaan Hai, a film which never saw the light of the day.
When Bollywood Hungama spoke to this soft-spoken director, he was sweet enough to accept this. He said, "Yes, Sherwani Kahaan Hai was indeed my debut film, which I made it with a group of my friends from Subhash Ghai's Whistling Woods. The film mostly starred newcomers like Pavail Gulati, Aahana Kumra (who are now acting in Big B's Yudh) and others. There were also cameos by Naseeruddin Shah and Ratna Pathak Shah. The film was made on a small budget. We tried our level best to release the film, but couldn't manage to do so."

I teared up during Brick Mansions. I know what you’re thinking – huh? But trust me, you may have a similar experience. The film, a remake of the influential French actioner District 13, marks one of the final big screen roles (and the last completed project) for Fast & Furious star Paul Walker, who died in a car accident last year. For me, the moment came when, after the final shot faded to black, a picture of the actor appeared on the screen, captioned with the words “In Loving Memory of Paul Walker.”
As he smiled out over the theater, many viewers stood to their feet, and we all applauded. For the first time since Walker’s death, I understood a little about the actor’s fans, and just how much Walker really meant to them. He was more than just another handsome A-lister with a devil-may-care attitude; Walker’s youthful features,...

Lots of films are dedicated to, or in memory of someone. But it's not always clear why. We've been finding out...
Back when Breaking Bad returned for its final batch of episodes in August 2013, it had a dedication at the end of it. The card read 'Dedicated to our friend Kevin Cordasco'. As it turned out, Kevin Cordasco was a 16-year old who had been battling cancer for seven years, who had met both Bryan Cranston and Vince Gilligan. Cordasco died before he could ever get to see the episode dedicated to him.
I found this such a moving story, that it got me wondering about the dedications that appear on films, and what the story behind them was. After all, the dedications are there for a reason. What I uncovered was some funny stories, mainly extremely sad ones, and some extremely moving dedications.
