The children realize that they haven't gone to wave at the train for some time, so they decide to do it again. When the 11:57 goes by, the children wave at it as usual but are surprised to see everyone, from the engineer to the caboose, including the railway director (Richard Attenborough), waving back. The children run back to the house to tell Mother (Jenny Agutter) about everyone waving. Then Bobbie decides to walk down to the station to see the 11:57 arrive. Along the way, she is greeted warmly by everyone she meets. Mr Perks (Gregor Fisher) even kisses her. When the train pulls in, two women get off. Then a man disembarks, and Bobbie realizes that it is Daddy (Michael Kitchen). "My Daddy.....my Daddy!", she shouts and runs into his arms. Bobbie and Daddy walk home together, while Daddy explains that they caught the real traitor and now everyone knows that he wasn't her Daddy. In the final scene, Bobbie goes into the house, while Daddy waits outside. Mother comes out, followed by Peter and Phyllis, and they all rush into Daddy's open arms.
