Early DeSimone Worth Checking Out
This one has one hell of a title that no film could live up to, but that doesn't mean this one isn't worth a watch. An early gay porn, this one plays more like an arthouse underground film than stroker. Larry Danser is the titled Groupie, who arrives in LA and attempts to get into the pants of the lead singer of the gay band Electric Banana with the help of groupie legend Lady Mary. There's two sex scenes that frankly aren't much to see, and the narrative isn't any great shakes either. It's the presentation that keeps you interested, with some nice effects in the opening masturbation scene, and then using different looks like switching from B&W and whatnot to tell different parts of the journey. Add in an incredible stolen soundtrack and some non-kayfabe shocker clips of people shooting heroin and this one ends up being a remarkable gem.
