...I'm not quite satisfied.
The screenplay is quite good. Now, that I see it's based on Dostoyevsky it's no wonder.
The shade that haunts a person. Depressions - untreated. The impact on the person and its beloved. How they all struggle to cope with but succumb it.
What I didn't like were some elements concerning directing. I don't argue against some artificial freedom and pursuit of some "different", modern look in general. But in my opinion some shots were not thought-out enough. Which means, even if I should feel like being in the situation a bit, I would have liked a better view in this situation and positioned my head, eyes or even body elsewhere. I liked the idea of being there and the improvised style though - but as I said - sometimes you even got out of the situation by a distracting view (e.g. too close close-ups, too dark setting, too much flying around camera). I should say - this counts not for the whole of the film but for several important takes.
The music - in my opinion worked out well with the movie, but was too loud when it was loud.
The actors did very well.
The very end - her literally walking away - well now that I write it, OK. But, who needs that?
