It's true you've almost certainly never heard of the star, but then 19th Century jugglers aren't the sort of thing that people follow in our cat-video-obsessed era. It's Félicien Trewey, and this was the first movie i the Lumieres' catalogue.
M. Trewey also appeared in several other Lmiere films, including PARTIE DE CARTES and LONDON STREET DANCERS. Here, he takes various bowls, sets them spinning, and keeps them doing do. It's a nice music hall act, and the sort that would use "Sabre Dance" as accompanying music. What a pity that piece of music wasn't premiered until 46 years after this short.
