A Master-piece from the Late S.R Puttana Kanagal...!!
itsucksman-356-4620358 March 2014
A Story of an arrogant young student who falls in love with his friend's sister and the story ensues, portraying the issues that played a major role in the society like caste-ism, a take on human trafficking and such issues...the script and the dialogs are very gripping and powerful...!!And the actors have performed exceptionally well, which is needless to say, this being a Puttanna Kanagal movie!! And this is the first Kannada movie to use a slow motion camera. The Songs in the movie are well presented and arguably inspirational!!

Overall, I think it safe to say that it's a master-piece...they don't make movies like these anymore!!! Old School is the best school and Puttana Kanagal is the headmaster of that school!!

My Favourite movie of all-time
vijaybyadgi29 December 2012
This is a masterpiece from Puttanna Kanagal. This movie has excelled in all departments Direction, Acting, Songs and we can forget 'Baare Baare..' which was shot entirely in slow-motion for the first time in the Indian film industry.

I like the way he weaves his characters along with highlighting the social issues. I think he always did this in all his films, it may be Sharapanjara, Gejje Pooje, Manasa Sarovara, Ranganayaki ..., the list goes on.

This Film has gifted us Vishnu and Ambi and yes it added on more diamond to Jayanthi's acting crown.

Movie about a Teacher and student relationship should not be missed
suddeep22 July 2018
A whole story revolves around a precious and holy relationship between a dedicated teacher and his student who is very revolting, aggressive and hyper egoistical. The student never goes against his teachers words and thus the story goes on.

Top!

A beautifully made movie. Very strong characters involved as is common in Puttanna Kanagal's movies. My favourite part is how beautifully the relationship between student (Ramachari) and teacher (Chamaiah Maestru) is depicted in the movie.

How badly i wish we had more movies from Puttanna Kanagal.

Strong emotions and characters.

A well-written mixture of drama and romance. Set in Chitradurga, this movie revolves around the bond between the protagonist and his teacher.

Ramachari is a stubborn young man who only listens to his School Teacher. He has once given up his love as per his Teacher's request. Will he do it the second time?

One of the Big hits during 70s. This movie introduced Vishnuvardhan to the Kannada Movie Industry.

Ramachari is a stubborn young man.He is not good in studies, but he is man of virtue. He is very much fond of his School teacher. He falls in love with one of his friend's sister. But the girl's family does not like him. He agrees to forget her as per his teacher's request. Latter he finds a new love. But tragedy as it happens, the girl belongs to separate religion. Ramachari's parents want him to leave the girl. He wont listen to them.

The movie is shot in chitradurga, the place in southern karnataka famous for its fortress. The movie also has a famous song narrating story of the legendary obbavva who saved the fortress falling in hands of HyderAli.The actress jayanti appeared as obbavva in the song.

Vishnuvardan as ramachari is awesome in his first movie. Same with the heroines Arathi as Alamelu and Shobha as Margaret.Ashwath portrays the School Teacher character with excellence.

The movie also has great supporting actor crew with ambharish, shivaram and others.
