The recent success of Zendaya’s Challengers has proven people’s interest in the theme of love triangles doesn’t need to be rekindled.
The movies, which explore the romances involving three different personalities, tend to attract the audience with their intricate love lines and unexpected twists, with the final one intended to break the triangle.
Here are 5 of the most remarkable love triangle films, which are available for streaming online.
Vicky Cristina Barcelona (2008)
Where to watch: Prime, Apple TV+
First comes Woody Allen’s feature, which is very reminiscent of Challengers due to its similar vibe of the youth’s passion and heated romance. The plot centers on Scarlett Johansson’s Cristina, meeting in Barcelona the handsome artist Juan Antonio, who shares her attraction to him, though being still enamored of his ex-wife María Elena.

Hugh Grant has been expanding on his career beyond his famous rom-coms, having starred in last year’s special effects-laden big-budget films Wonka and Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. Grant will be returning to his popular franchise with Renée Zellweger for the recently announced upcoming fourth film in the Bridget Jones movies, Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy. The plot is said to “pick up with Bridget in her early fifties, as she navigates the challenges of modern life while juggling the responsibilities of motherhood.”
Grant recently spoke with the publication People as he teases the next installment in the series. The English actor stated,
It is very moving as well as funny. It’s partly based on Helen Fielding’s experiences of bringing up two children by herself after her husband died. And so Bridget is bringing up two kids and wondering whether she should ever go back to dating.

Twenty years ago this month, the fairy tale-like romantic comedy “13 Going on 30” starring Jennifer Garner made its way into cinemas. The actress played Jenna Rink, a socially awkward soon-to-be 13-year-old who quickly realizes that she “hates being 13.” She makes a birthday wish to be “thirty, flirty and thriving.” With the little help of some wishing dust, she wakes up the next morning to discover that her wish has come true.
It was a defining moment in Garner’s early career. Her role as Sydney Bristow in the television action thriller series “Alias” had made her a breakout star (including at awards shows) just a few years earlier. She won the Golden Globe for Best Drama Actress in 2002 and had competed again in 2003 and earlier in 2004. She had also been nominated for two Emmy Awards one Screen Actors Guild trophy.

Hugh Grant is speaking out about the upcoming fourth Bridget Jones movie, and unfortunately, seemed to confirm some upsetting news for fans in the process.

Now, Hugh is revealing a few details about the film, which will hit Peacock over Valentine’s Day in 2025.
Keep reading to find out more…

Documentary fans have a lot to be excited about this month on HBO and Max. April begins with the premiere of The Synanon Fix, a docuseries that follows the rise and fall of the cult-like drug rehabilitation program Synanon. The documentary Brandy Hellville and the Cult of Fast Fashion takes a deep-dive into the controversial “one size fits most” clothing brand Brandy Mellville and the impact of fast fashion on the planet.
An American Bombing: The Road to April 19th looks at the surge of political violence and anti-government sentiment that led to the 1995 Oklahoma City Bombing, and the effects still felt nearly 30 years later. HBO is also returning with a second part to their popular docuseries The Jinx, with filmmakers continuing their investigation of Robert Durst.

For countless fans of the romantic comedy, Hugh Grant will always be just a boy standing in front of a girl. But speaking with IndieWire for his single-episode guest appearance as Ed Keplinger in HBO’s “The Regime,” the 63-year-old British actor seemed blissfully out of touch with the genre that launched his stardom.
When asked about Hollywood’s rom-com resurgence, Grant said, “I didn’t know there was one. What should I watch?”
Since the summer that brought us “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” and “Crazy Rich Asians,” movies about meet-cutes and star-crossed lovers have strengthened their foothold in streaming while taking leaps forward at the box office. IndieWire suggested Grant try anything with Glen Powell, a standout rom-com stud also known for “Top Gun: Maverick” who has been described as this generation’s Grant on occasion.

Denis Villeneuve isn't exactly what one might call an action director. His early thrillers like "Prisoners" and "Sicario" are slow-burn affairs punctuated by graphic bursts of violence while his sci-fi hit "Arrival" devotes most of its runtime to characters talking about linguistics. Even in "Blade Runner 2049" and "Dune," the action scenes are swift and brutal yet relatively few and far between. That changes somewhat with "Dune: Part Two," a film in which young Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) and the Fremen unleash the full might of their desert power as they go to war with the ruthless House Harkonnen and its ally, the power-hungry Shaddam IV (Christopher Walken), the Padishah Emperor of the Known Universe, in a battle for the planet of Arrakis.

Richard Curtis, the prolific writer-director behind Love Actually, is gifting audiences yet another holiday comedy this year. Set to release on Nov. 22 on Peacock, Genie stars Melissa McCarthy as Flora, a wish-granting being summoned by hapless workaholic Bernard, played by Paapa Essiedu.
The trailer is filled with Curtis’ signature feel-good, witty banter and sparkly shots of Christmas tinsel in the background. Flora literally poofs into Bernard’s life when he needs it the most — he’s missed his daughter’s birthday, his wife has left him, and his boss has given him the boot.

Studiocanal has revealed the brand spanking new red band trailer for ‘Wicked Little Letters’, the razor-sharp British comedy from director Thea Sharrock.
Based on a true story, a 1920s English seaside town bears witness to a farcical and occasionally sinister scandal in this riotous mystery comedy. Based on a stranger-than-fiction true story, the feature follows two neighbours: deeply conservative local Edith Swan (Olivia Colman) and rowdy Irish migrant Rose Gooding (Jessie Buckley). When Edith and her fellow residents begin to receive wicked letters full of unintentionally hilarious profanities, foul-mouthed Rose is charged with the crime. The anonymous letters prompt a national uproar, and a trial ensues. However, as the town’s women – led by Police Officer Gladys Moss (Anjana Vasan) – begin to investigate the crime themselves, they suspect something is amiss, and Rose may not be the culprit after all.

Richard Curtis is looking back at his early films like Bridget Jones’s Diary, Notting Hill and Love Actually and regretting he was not “ahead of the curve” in terms of the jokes and portrayal of women.
At the The Times and Sunday Times Cheltenham Literature Festival, his daughter Scarlett interviewed him where she questioned him about “growing criticism around the ways your films treated women and people of color.”
“I wish I’d been ahead of the curve,” Curtis said.
The writer and director added, “I think because I came from a very undiverse school and bunch of university friends, I think that I hung on to the feeling that I wouldn’t know how to write those parts. I think I was just stupid and wrong about that. I felt as though me, my casting director, my producers just didn’t look outwards.”

Looking back at Love Actually and Bridget Jones’s Diary, Richard Curtis regrets including negative commentary about women’s bodies in the films amid criticism in recent years.
While recently speaking at The Times and Sunday Times Cheltenham Literature Festival, via Today, the director-writer recalled “how shocked I was like five years ago when [my daughter] Scarlett said to me, ‘You can never use the word fat again.'”
In the 2003 Christmas movie, Martine McCutcheon’s character Natalie is teased a handful of times for her weight, including being called “plumpy” and someone saying she has “massive … tree trunk thighs.” At one point, Natalie’s love interest, the British Prime minister played by Hugh Grant, also says, “God, you weigh a lot,” when she jumps into his arms.
After noting that his daughter was “right” about not using the word “fat” anymore in his projects, he added, “I think I was behind,...

In a recent interview appearance moderated by his daughter, Scarlett, at The Time and The Sunday Times Cheltenham Literature Festival, Curtis reflected on his past films, admitting that he is ashamed of how he portrayed women and teased their weight with “fat” jokes. “Love Actually” writer-director Richard Curtis admitted at the Times and Sunday Times’ Cheltenham Literature Festival (via Today) that he regrets the many weight-centric jokes he wrote into his 2003 Christmas classic.
The character Natalie (Martine McCutcheon) is often mocked for her weight throughout the film, with her dad calling her “plumpy,” a colleague noting she has “huge thighs” and her love interest (Hugh Grant) saying “God, you weigh a lot” after she jumps into his arms.
“I remember how shocked I was like five years ago when [my daughter] Scarlett said to me, ‘You can never use the word ‘fat’ again,'” Curtis said. “And wow, [she was] right. I think I was behind the curve, and those jokes aren’t any longer funny, so I don’t feel I was malicious at the time, but I think I was unobservant and not as clever as I should have been.”

You Hurt My Feelings. At a Friday-night showing of Nicole Holofcener’s latest film You Hurt My Feelings (2023), I noticed several people who had come with their moms. Holofcener makes great films to watch with your mom, if her definition of a great film is something that will make her laugh but won't treat her like an idiot. Holofcener’s stories are smart, funny and heartwarming, a little bit sad in the right places, sophisticated but palatable. Invariably, a great actress plays the lead—Catherine Keener, for the most part, though Julia Louis-Dreyfus stars both in Enough Said (2013) and You Hurt My Feelings. In the film, Beth (Louis-Dreyfus), a writer, overhears Don (Tobias Menzies) telling her brother-in-law that he doesn't like her latest novel. It hurts her feelings. She dry retches on the sidewalk, sobs to her sister, and swears she will never look at her husband the same way again.

As much as audiences love to see actors disappear into a role, Hugh Grant has become a beloved star largely for sticking to the genre fans know him best for. Although Grant admits he wishes he had made some different career decisions over the years, the actor has consistently seen success in the world of romantic comedies. And in a recent interview, Grant acknowledged an Easter egg from one of his most popular entries in the genre: 1999’s Notting Hill.

Jennifer Lawrence has had quite the career. From leading blockbuster films to her four Oscar nominations, the actor is one of the clear standouts in her generation. While stacking her resume, the Kentucky native has received a fair amount of awards and accolades for her distinctive work. She even managed to win a coveted Oscar early on in her career. But as proud as she was of her accomplishment, she admits that she wanted to hide the golden statue from sight.

Back in 2012, Lawrence won the Oscar for Best Actress in a Leading role. Her work in Silver Linings Playbook led her to become the second youngest winner of that award of all time. Two years prior to her win, the mom of one had also been nominated for her work in Winter’s Bone. Lawrence has...

The romcom has lapsed into such an anaemic state that Rye Lane feels like a miracle. Here’s an entry into the genre that doesn’t surrender to thinkpiece-ready neuroticism. And doesn’t demand two A-listers shoulder the entire job of summoning chemistry from a dead-eyed script. And, most refreshingly, doesn’t subsist purely on nostalgia for romcoms of old.
Raine Allen-Miller’s breezy, south London-set debut is exactly what we deserve from this genre. With one foot in the present and the other in the past, it follows a day-long flirtation – à la Before Sunrise – between two of life’s loveable losers, Yas (Vivian Oparah) and Dom (David Jonsson). Both are shipwrecked by post-breakup shame. But when Yas catches Dom in the act of a not-so-private sob session in an art gallery bathroom, the pair become unlikely allies in the search for emotional closure. Yas subs in as Dom...

For a solid decade, the U.K. contributed some of the most iconic floppy-haired lotharios, airport dashes and front-door confessions in romcom history. Films such as “Four Weddings and a Funeral” (1994), “Notting Hill” (1999) and “Love Actually” (2003) basically invented such hallmarks of the genre.
But in the last decade, the global-facing British romcom has all but disappeared from cinemas. Richard Curtis, the brains behind the aforementioned hits as well as the “Bridget Jones” adaptations, says the heavy lifting keeping romcoms alive has largely been carried out in the television ranks. The writer cites examples such as the BBC’s “Gavin & Stacey” and “Fleabag” and Channel 4’s “Catastrophe” as “blazing examples.”
“Unexpectedly to me, I would say that trying to write vaguely autobiographical films with jokes in them about how complicated love is, has probably happened more on telly than in cinema,” Curtis tells Variety.

In 2002, Halle Berry and Denzel Washington famously became the first African American performers to win lead acting Oscars in the same year (and still the only time ever). Berry was the first woman of color ever to win Best Actress (for “Monster’s Ball”) and only the third ever in any acting category, following supporting victors Hattie McDaniel for “Gone with the Wind” (1940) and Whoopi Goldberg for “Ghost” (1991) a half-century later. For Washington, his triumph for “Training Day” was his second Academy Award statuette (following a 1990 supporting win for “Glory”) and just the fifth ever for a Black male actor.
March 24, 2002 proved to be something of a magical night. Not only did Berry and Washington cap the night with wins, but Sidney Poitier, who won the first trophy for an African American male actor with his lead victory in 1964 for “Lilies of the Field,” was bequeathed an honorary award “for his...
