- Kari wears a sleeveless shirt with only her shoulders exposed.
- Angewomon and LadyDevimon wear suggestive clothes but it does not go beyond that.
- There are numerous hints of romance in the series, Sora and Matt eventually becoming a couple. In the show's epilogue, all of the major characters are shown to be married and have had children.

- Most of the episodes involve the Digimon getting into physical fights with other Digimon. No blood is shed in fights, and most battles will involve laser attacks in one form or another. There are several character deaths in the later half of the show.
- Flamedramon has retractable claws and can attack with fire.
- Digmon has drills for hands and a nose.
- Raidramon can fire electricity from the horn on his head.
- Shurimon has shurikens (ninja stars) for hands and feet.
- The villain Digimon Emperor, who later becomes the hero Ken, abuses Digimon with a whip and brainwashes them using Dark Rings and Dark Spirals.
- In Episode 4, several characters are physically beaten up by an evil Digimon.
- Agumon, a hero Digimon, is briefly turned evil and becomes a mindless, rampaging monster.
- Hero character Wormmon is killed by is revived two episodes later.
- Ken's older brother Sam is revealed to have been killed in a car crash.
- BlackWarGreymon commits suicide to save the Digital World. He dies onscreen.
- Two comic relief villains Arukenimon and Mummymon are killed onscreen by MaloMyotismon.
- Yukio Oikawa dies onscreen.
