Interesting...
Jusenkyo_no_Pikachu3 August 2002
I last saw this show when I was 10, and it was an interesting game show. What happened was Eden Gaha (never really watched Scott McRae) would show his contestants something on the Vidiot Screen (I don't think it was called that, but it was a screen with the word VIDIOT) and then ask questions about whatever was shown.

Compared with today's Aussie kids' game shows like Download, this is a classic (it had questions I couldn't answer, so therefore...)

Best Oz kids/teen game show I could remember

I watched this from the beginning and it was easy to relate to. Most of the questions dealt with what kids/teens were interested in at the time including certain music, movies, TV, etc while also retaining a sense of maturity with educational questions. The puzzles were interesting too. Compared to a lot of kids game shows here in Australia that was a major shift from the norm. Most kids game shows (even now) are based around schools competing against each other in tasks and questions that are down right silly.

By law, most TV channels here are required to show a certain amount of children programming and the commercial channels usually try to make it as cheap as possible while pretending to entertain their intended audience. The ABC however appeared to care when they made this show. It was just great.

What also made Vidiot stand out were the prizes. They weren't some useless school books or cheapo sports gear donated to your school, they were actual prizes. TVs, VCRs, video game machines, and you could keep them for yourself! You weren't representing a school, you were competing as an individual.

The hosts were great. The show also had celebrity guests and they would ask questions in the middle of the game. Usually there to promote something but who cares right? It was better than the other young audience game shows. Don't know why they got rid of it. Probably ABC cutbacks...

Overall one of the best teen game shows I've seen. Look out for another great ABC kids game show of the time in Big Square Eye
