Funny film

I saw this film purely by chance one night while flicking channels. I saw the advertisment on SBS so I decided to watch it and boy am I glad it did! The movie was creative and the songs were truly hi-larious. Great film for a good laugh - as long as you don't mind sub-titles.

This act is getting old

Another mockumentary about a fictional music group. This one is set in Norway, which gives it some novelty--I liked seeing the scenes of them traveling and getting a feel for the different settings. And this was a mostly funny movie with some catchy original tunes.

The problem for me is that is basically follows the same template as so many other fake documentaries, particularly music related ones. If you've seen Spinal Tap and A Mighty Wind, you get the idea. If, like me, you also happen to have been lucky enough to see Gangsta Rap: The Glockumentary, you might just be as underwhelmed as I was. Boyzvoiced was just a little tame in comparison.

I gave a six because it did have a lot going for it. The subplot with the male fan who ends up on stage (saving the band's career in the process) worked well. However, a lot of the build-up (trouble in the studio, bad press, lack of talent) felt routine. The highlight might have been the charity event gone wrong when the band ended up assaulting some Shriners during a mall show.

Overall, worth a watch, but I don't expect to give it any repeat viewings.

A very funny movie. Ranks just below Spinal Tap. A lot of comedies have tried to make mockumentaries. However, none have made me laugh, with the exception of the two abovementioned movies. There are however some missed opportunities in this movies. It could have been even better. The scary thing, is that this movie is so close to the truth about these boy-bands.

I've been Boyzvoiced and I love it!

Back in 2000 a group of friends and I stumbled upon a cassette of the video "We are the Playmomen." For several weeks we debated whether it was for real or a put-on, but either way we laughed our asses off. I thought I would never get a chance to see the movie, but periodic searches over the years paid off.

Jeez, it's funny.

The music is catchy and fun. Espen Eckbo is so convincing in his multiple roles I actually went for a good part of the film without realizing the number of characters he was playing. Of note is his role as M'Pete. Eckbo convincingly portrays someone happy to be living his dream, but who suspects the bubble could burst at any moment. When it does, he displays a surprising depth of emotion. I wouldn't mind seeing him in a non-comedic role.

For those of you who get a chance to see this film, lucky you.

"Im a big boy"

Given that im totally annoyed by boybands and a big fan of Spinal Tap I really wanted to love this movie when our local station advertised it as "Spinal Tap meets Back street boys". My only dissapoinment is that I hadn't discovered this earlier. It is hysterically funny in every way, and like ST needs a rewatch to appreciate the finner moments. Funniest bits iclude the first song (the "cousin" one), the diehard teenage boy fan (every scene he's in), and M'Pete talking about his Bond theme dream.

Finally boy bands get the credibility they deserve..hehe.

Very funny boy band version of spinal tap

This is an unexpected gem. I watched this movie late one night on SBS (a foreign language free to air channel in Australia) and was drawn into it almost immediately. Even reading this movie with subtitles doesn't seem to detract from the hilarity. Ove is hilarious! This is much funnier than Spinal Tap, and essentially makes that movie obsolete.This movie contains a number of video clips of varying degrees of humor, some of them side-splitting. In a world of boy-bands and girl-bands that are essentially self-parodies, it is amazing that this movie still manages to be so funny. I would highly recommend this movie to anyone who appreciates witty satirical humor such as the office, or the simpsons. Also, any fan of Spinal Tap should check this out.

Classy Norwegian comedy

As a fan of foreign cinema, I saw this film screened on the multicultural station SBS. I would have to say that this is a humorous view into the life of a Scandinavian boy band. A documentary crew follows the members of the band throughout their career. From in-store appearances to performing in a live awards show in front of a nationwide audience, nothing seems to go exactly as planned. The characters are portrayed brilliantly and are very much true to life. The film also depicts the popularity of the pop music industry in Scandinavia at the time of filming where pop bands such as Aqua were prevalent. If you ever come across this film it is definitely worth watching. Norwegians aren't well known for their comedy but this is a top effort from the Norwegians which will have you in stitches.

the funniest movie i have ever seen. Without a doubt. I love the music videos, the diehard fan, M-Pete discussing his priorities ('First Mum, then the career, then dad, then my girlfriend... if she's really hot, she might come before dad') it is still funny everytime i watch it

Ridiculously hilarious

Anyone who despises boybands will love this movie! It's a mockumentary following a boyband called Boyzvoice (consisting of MPete, Hot Tub and Roar) on tour. All sorts of things that come along with being in a boyband happen, including a shocking "secret."

One of the most memorable characters is their biggest fan, Ove, who takes a huge risk writing a report on his favourite group for school and almost gets trampled to death at a shopping mall performance. His naivete is just too funny, as are Boyzvoice's music videos. They're all in English, save for the "Latin" dance song that most boybands have. Hilarious lyrics, some on the naughty side, but never repulsive.

genious peace of work!

This movie is a genious peace of work, as an all-round joke, pointed at "boy-bands" and that type of music, it's a laugh-cracker! Espen Eckbo is genious in his roles, and plays them very well. As do the other members of the cast. Funny that famous artists like Morten Abel and Espen Lind plays themselves in this movie.

Recommended!!

Hilarious movie about the "boys group" Boyzvoice..

Espen Eckbo has really outdone himself with this one. We've seen him on Mandagsklubben and "I Kveld med Thomas Giertsen". In this movie we meet his characters M'Pete,Ove Hoff etc. Its a year with boyzvoice, its hilarious. Now we all know Boyzvoice was only made for fun in Mandagsklubben with the song Library girl, but surprisingly enough every song they made become hits. Father Christmas,library girl, we are the playmo men etc. And they decided to make a comedy about it. I give it a 10!

Still relevant and irresitably funny

Outstanding Norwegian mockumentary which satirizes the burgeoning boy-band phenomenon around the turn of the millennium with warmth and passion. The star of the show is the brilliant Norwegian comedian Espen Eckbo, who is co-director, co-writer and plays several parts, including the lead as Boyzvoice front man M'Pete in addition to the band's biggest fan, 14-year-old Ove. Eckbo's unabrasive but still razor-sharp satire is an art in itself, and his talent for physical comedy, characterizations and line-delivery makes Get Ready to Be Boyzvoiced an exquisite, timeless viewing experience which has stood (and will continue to stand) the test of time remarkably well. The film is still to the point in so many ways. The catchy songs and hilarious lyrics were written by Jens Thoresen and Eckbo/Elvestad, respectively. And M'Pete and Hot Tub (Øyvind Thoen) actually do much of the singing themselves, contrary to what is claimed in the narrative. Although that superb James Bond song at the end was actually sung by Morten Harket of A-ha.

Fun fun fun

Great satire of the boy-band rage. Although in Norwegian, with English subtitles it is also very funny. The corny songs and vidoes in themselves make the movie worth seeing. Look out for more from Eckbo & Co. in the future!
