The Raiders of the Lost Ark documentary
maldelus25 September 2012
I finally saw this documentary today, Sept. 25, 2012, as it was included as a backup feature on the fifth disc of the 2012 Blu-Ray five disc "Indiana Jones: The Complete Adventures" release. I immediately bought it for under seventy dollars and I couldn't be happier. Buy the set. Go through the trials and tribulations and visit the locations the cast and crew had to meet and face daily while the film was being made. See why stunt people are needed and necessary for an adventure film to succeed. Fire, crashes, cast and crew get together to capture on film for present and future audiences the visions of story writers and a director to create a finished product that will only be known to be well done if movie theaters are filled with customers and critics are amazed as well.

Shame not on the DVD!

I just bought the Indy trilogy on video from the 90's because this vintage documentary was included as an extra tape. The ten bucks i payed for the whole worth the purchase of just this "Making of...".Is the first VHS i buy in years! But i don't regret it at all. I remember i saw it in 1981 on TV. And it's just great!! Too bad it was not on the DVD. It shows in great and really funny detail how this classic was made. It covers the scenes with the big rolling stone, the excavation, the burning of the Nazis and the truck ("What truck!")super stunt. The logistics the locations in Tunisia and in the studios in England. It's a whole one hour and i enjoyed every second of it. If Raiders is your favorite film or is in your top ten you HAVE to put your hands on a copy of it!

Back when Hollywood still made great films!

Just bought the Blu Ray set of Indiana Jones and I went straight to the special features. The making of Raiders has about three different parts to it. They are all very good. They show the story of the making of the film in the order the film was made. They also would add in deleted scenes or scenes that slightly got changed. Then they would show the final scene that made the final cut. It is really well done and it helped me relive the greatness of this film when it came out. I'm sad to say these days are over now and films today just don't have the magic they used to. Part of it is CGI, part of it is left wing politics that ruin movies. Still this is a really well made documentary and hopefully the other three movies are well done too. I am also looking forward to the making of the original Star Wars trilogy.
