I Never Can Say Goodbye To StarGeeks!
newnoir6 July 2002
This film is pretty good, by no means great. Most of the humor will only appeal to die hard Star Wars and Star Trek addicts though. Max Cabot does a fine job as the movie's hero and Jerry Aldridge is good as his best bud Chris.

The film is basically the story of a couple days in the life of two sci-fi geeks desperate to attend a special screening of the latest Star Wars flick, with a bit of subplot thrown in about the girlfriends in their lives and a debate about which sci-fi series is better: Star Wars or Star Trek.

The filmmakers also refer to Star Trek fans as Trekkies and not the correct term: Trekkers. A true sci-fi fan would never make such a heinous mistake. What the hell was the screenwriter thinking? And die hard Star Trek and Star Wars fans rarely have girlfriends. Another fatal flaw in this film. And any fool knows you can be a fan of both Star Wars and Star Trek at the same time.

StarGeeks is fairly predictable and not real big on character development. But I doubt that was the point. This is just a mildly amusing bit of celluloid, and on that level it's fairly enjoyable.
