Following his title win, Robert Remus had to remain at the arena until around 3am, amidst fears for his safety. At the time, Slaughter's in-ring persona was that of an Iraqi/Saddam Hussein sympathizer and as this event took place during the first Gulf War, fans were incensed when he captured the title.
In the main event (the 30 man Royal Rumble), Shane McMahon can be seen as one of the ringside referees ensuring that wrestlers head to the back once eliminated.
For this Rumble event, 29 out of the 30 participants took part. Macho King Randy Savage was the one who didn't make an appearance.
Rick Martel became the first wrestler to last over 50 minutes at this event.
The Gulf War started the night of this PPV.
