- The ice skating stunts at the end of the movie were choreographed and skated by Canadian skater Elvis Stojko.
- Features a shot of Catherine Keener whizzing a Frisbee at Edward Norton which is very similar to a shot in The War of the Roses (1989) which was also directed by Danny DeVito.
- Singer Henry Rollins auditioned for the part of Spinner. Rollins details the first audition with Danny DeVito on his spoken word performance DVD 'Henry Rollins: Up For It (2001)' , part of which consists of throwing a chair at DeVito.

- SPOILER: During the Ice Show, the Chinese writing that's shining on the ice when we see Spinner/Smoochy The Rhino lying dead, reads: "Dead Rhino".
- SPOILER: In the scene where Spinner gets dropped into the middle of the street, there's a puddle beside him. The Chinese character reflected in the puddle is the word for "death".
