In the above clip from the episode “Who Let the Dog Out (‘Cause Now It’s Stuck in a Cistern),” we find Cabe (played by Robert Patrick) putting the kibosh on a scheme to sway jurors, before he shares some sad news: his trial is closed to the public, so the team can’t be there to support him.

UK kids wouldn’t have survived the 90s without The Crystal Maze, Knightmare, Gladiators and more…
Remember boredom? Boredom was to a nineties childhood what stress is to modern adulthood – a constant and inescapable presence, relieved only by television.
See related Gotham season 4 episode 7 review: A Day In The Narrows
The difference is, even television could be boring in the nineties. Grown-ups exclusively watched One Man And His Dog, The Budget and Ballykissangel, the sort of programmes that gave you Sunday-night-dread any day of the week. Try as you might to escape border collies, Kenneth Clarke and priests having harvest festival scrapes in picturesque Irish villages, it simply wasn’t possible. There were no streaming services to come to your rescue. Video rental was a birthdays-only treat. What else were you supposed to do? Read?

One day after penning a New York Times op-ed about the infamous Access Hollywood tape that got him fired, Billy Bush continued his redemption tour on The Late Show Monday night.
Host Stephen Colbert began the Q&A by acknowledging why the tape is back in the public eye in the first place: President Trump, who can be heard in the footage describing how he touches and kisses women without their consent, has recently begun denying that it’s his voice in the video, which Bush said irks him.

CBS’ Big Brother this Thursday drew 6.4 million total viewers and a 1.8 rating, down 14 percent in the demo from its week-ago finals to equal its second-lowest Thursday rating for this cycle— and that is with NFL preemptions yet to be subtracted out. That said, it will as usual lead the night in the demo (while a Big Bang rerun delivered the largest audience).

Earth’s future has always proved a playground of possibility for scriptwriters and directors. Artists are rarely content to make do within the confines of what is merely possible. Setting a movie years in the future is a way of letting their minds off the leash, while usually offering an allegorical reflection of the times in which we currently live. As one fictional time-travel expert once said, “The future is not set. There is no fate but what we make for ourselves.”
Snow White & The Huntsman director Rupert Sanders is the latest in a long line of visual soothsayers who has made his own fate in the form of Ghost In The Shell, which offers us a metropolitan futureworld full of gymnastic augmented cybernetic agents, colossal 3D advertisements and the increasingly regular sight of Juliette Binoche in a lab-coat.

Three episodes were provided prior to broadcast.
It’s somewhere around the explanation of Incorporated‘s bifurcated future world, wherein unemployed urchins rule the slums and sleek worker bees look down their noses from glossy high-rises, that Syfy’s new show peaks creatively. The vision echoes the futures of plenty of other sci-fi works (weirdly, I was reminded of the Ethan Hawke, us-vs-them vampire flick Daybreakers), but it has undeniably interesting ideas of its own.
Unfortunately, that exact moment where the show peaks creatively is in an opening credits scroll; the subsequent story navigating us through Incorporated‘s potentially bountiful near-future is sluggish and, as far as duplicitous business thrillers go, inert. Incorporated falls further along the high-quality end of the Syfy spectrum than, say, Aftermath or Hunters, but it’s far short of the network’s current best: The Expanse and The Magicians. An interesting world worth getting lost...

It’s easy for a show like American Horror Story to lose its way. Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk's anthology series sets itself the challenge of establishing a weird, off-kilter tone whilst also crafting an engaging and worthwhile story from scratch each year. Arguably since Asylum, that's a challenge it's struggled to achieve.

There’s no more obvious candidate for directing a Edward Snowden biopic than Oliver Stone, the reigning king of conspiratorial left-wing political thrillers. However, the definitive movie about Snowden’s dramatic leak of Nsa files already exists: Laura Poitras’ Oscar-winning documentary “Citizenfour.” Stone’s “Snowden” recounts the same events, using them as a framing device to recount the young character’s radicalization. As a result, “Snowden” largely becomes the CliffsNotes “Citizenfour,” now with a Hollywood gloss.

We find the defector (Joseph Gordon-Levitt, whose monotonous intonations echo Snowden’s own) meeting with a camera-wielding Poitras (an underutilized Melissa Leo), along with former Guardian reporters Glenn Greenwald (an overzealous Zachary Quinto) and Ewen MacAskill (Tom Wilkinson on autopilot). Well, this is quite a twist. An… Oliver Twist.
The classic Charles Dickens novel Oliver Twist is being reimagined as a female-driven crime procedural by NBC, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The project, tentatively titled Twist, promises “a sexy contemporary take” centering on a twentysomething woman named Twist who teams up with a group of skilled outcasts to catch wealthy criminals.

It was 27 years ago today, in the final months of the 1980s, that the one of the defining shows of the 1990s, Seinfeld, premiered. Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David launched the “show about nothing” though they’d been asked to put together a 90-minute TV special. A season pick-up at first seemed unlikely after the pilot airing, but NBC execs ended up finding the money to order more episodes by making one fewer Bob Hope special, and the show of course went on to become one of the most successful and beloved comedies in television history, giving us the Soup Nazi, the Festivus pole, George’s musical answering machine, and a showcase for a quartet of four core comedic talents. Other notable July 5 happenings in pop culture history: • 1954: The BBC broadcast its first daily television news program. • 1954: Elvis Presley recorded his version of “That’s All Right.” • 1968:...

Chicago – Two months ago, producer/director/cinematographer/editor Gordon Quinn received the Baadasssss Award from the 2016 Cimm Fest, for his longtime contributions to the cinema scene in Chicago through Kartemquin Films. The famous production house, known for their documentaries, is celebrating their 50th anniversary.
Kartemquin began in 1966 when three newly minted University of Chicago grads partnered to create socially conscious films, and took part of their names – Stan KARter, Jerry TEManer and Gordon QUINn – to form Kartemquin Films. Towards the end of the 1960s, Karter and Temaner had moved on, and the late Jerry Blumenthal stepped in to become the de facto fourth founder. "The Golden Girls," the superhero quartet of choice for people who found "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" not bad-ass enough, turns 30 years old today. The Miami-set series enjoys a huge following even today, which is no surprise when you consider that the show's four lead actresses all won Emmys for their work. To celebrate their awesomeness, let's pick the Golden Girls' best non-"Golden Girls" moments. Rue McClanahan in "Starship Troopers" Look at Rue McClanahan owning that Blanche Devereux sauciness and absolutely terrifying Casper Van Dien and Denise Richards in "Starship Troopers." Her Karl Lagerfeld-like intensity is fantastic. Even Robert Heinlein couldn't have predicted how welcome McClanahan's presence would be in a sci-fi caper. Gemma Collins is hoping for "another chance" to take part on I'm a Celebrity following her disastrous (if not hilarious) short-lived stint last year.
The TV star - who recently quit reality TV show The Only Way is Essex after four years - told The Sun: "Hopefully one day the producers might give me another chance. And if it came up again, I would grab it with both hands.
"Everything would be different a second time. I'd be like Lara Croft and Angelina Jolie rolled into one, and I'd do the tasks. I'm not scared of nothing."
Collins quit the ITV show after just four days when she seemingly struggled to cope and complained of having malaria.
Describing herself as a "broken woman" when she entered the jungle following an alleged fight with her then-boyfriend Alex Moss, she continued: "I am perfect for that show, and I still think I...

"No, I was always the type who is most pessimistic when it came to public reaction, so any cheer was very valuable to me, and it meant a lot to have such a great reaction – so thank you.
