Afghan fantasy drama Wolf And Sheep has picked up the Art Cinema Award at the 48th Directors’ Fortnight in Cannes.
Making Of… Wolf And Sheep
It marks the completion of a six-year journey with Cannes for Afghan director Shahrbanoo Sadat, who was 20 when selected as the youngest participant of the festival’s Cinefondation Residency, where she began to develop this debut in 2010.
Wolf And Sheep follows a group of Afghan shepherd boys and girls living in a remote village, where folklore helps explain the world’s mysteries.
Starring largely non-professional actors, Wolf And Sheep was shot in Tajikistan because it was too dangerous for the crew to shoot in Afghanistan.
The Denmark-France-Sweden-Afghanistan co-production is produced by Katja Adomeit and is being sold by Alpha Violet.
Although considered a non-competitive section, the film was selected for the sponsored prize over titles such as Pablo Larrain’s [link...

Innocent song choice or something much more symbolic? That's what some fans are asking themselves after Demi Lovato chose to perform her 2013 single "Made in the USA" Saturday night at the 2015 Mlb All-Star Game concert. While some may think it's just another one of the former Disney star's singles, others can't help but be reminded that Ariana Grande was originally scheduled to perform at the event this weekend. Furthermore, Grande has been making headlines after she was caught on tape saying "I hate Americans. I hate America." While the Mlb made it clear that Grande simply had to pull out of the event because she had her wisdom teeth removed on Monday, the...

When it comes to international film festivals, there are sprinters and there are distance runners. Spanning 25 days across May and June, Seattle International Film Festival is the Pheidippides of American fests. Unlike its splashier cousins, Sundance and SXSW, Siff doesn’t pander to big movie stars or flashy hipsters. Staying true to its Northwest sensibilities, Siff quietly grinds out one terrific program after another. The 41st edition boasts a whopping 193 feature films, 164 short films, and 70 documentaries, many of which are either World or North American premieres. It’s enough to make even the most ambitious cinephile curl up in a corner with his festival guide and cry. Here, then, is a brief preview of some hotly anticipated films, as well as some obscure titles that might otherwise go unnoticed.

Hemdale became one of the largest indie studios of the 80s with films like The Terminator and Platoon. Ryan charts its turbulent history...
When Platoon won four Oscars in 1987, it marked not only a new chapter in Oliver Stone's career as a filmmaker, but also the end of a decade-long battle. Since the 1970s, Stone had been struggling to make his harrowing account of the horrors he'd seen firsthand as a soldier in the Vietnam conflict, but was famously turned down by every major studio in Hollywood.
Platoon, and Stone, finally found sanctuary at a small independent studio with a grand-sounding name: the Hemdale Film Corporation. It was Hemdale, and its co-founder John Daly, that had taken a chance on Stone, and when Platoon came out in 1986, the gamble proved to be a shrewd one: its $6m investment was covered by the first month's ticket sales, and the film...

Calling out the infamous Lady Gaga for her vomit-inducing scene at her SXSW concert, Demi Lovato hopped on Twitter to voice her aggravation.
Telling fans that Mother Monster glamorizes bulimia, the "Made in the USA" singer wrote, "Sad…As if we didn't have enough people glamorizing eating disorders already. Bottom line, it's not 'cool' or 'artsy' at all."
Continuing, the 21-year-old stated, "Would you let someone bring a needle and shoot up on you? Addiction is addiction."
After receiving flack from Gaga's Little Monsters, Demi also addressed her critics, writing, "It's not 'shade' and it's not 'hate,' but if someone has to come forward and say it…I'll take the heat for it. Putting the word Art in it isn't a free card to do whatever you want without consequences."
Demi then addressed the "Applause" singer directly, writing to her, "You're So talented, if not one of the most talented in our industry Period.

London, Nov. 20: Demi Lovato has come in defense of her childhood friend Miley Cyrus, insisting that the 20-year-old singer knows what she is doing.

Though the premiere of the highly-anticipated "The Mortal Instruments" is still a few days away, we already know that the film is going to sound awesome -- because if the soundtrack so far is any indicator of how the movie will be, we don't think we'll have any complaints.
With the soundtrack featuring music among the likes Jessie J and Owl City, fans already caught a sneak peek of Demi Lovato's track "Heart by Heart," and now, they can listen to the song in full -- and let's just say we definitely don't hate it.
After listening to pop anthem "Made in the USA" all summer, this powerful piano-based ballad is a change from what we're used to hearing from the singer, but is still hauntingly beautiful. Listen above.
Lovatics, what do you think of "Heart by Heart"? Will you be seeing "The Mortal Instruments" in theaters? Tell us in the comments,...

Demi’s epic new slow jam ‘Heart by Heart’ is finally here and I can’t get enough of it!
No one does a good love song like Demi Lovato, which is why I was so excited to listen to her new rock ballad “Heart By Heart” on The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones soundtrack, due out on August 20. After a month of waiting to hear the track since Demi released a preview, it’s finally here! Do you love it as much as I do?
Demi Lovato: ‘Heart By Heart’ From ‘Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones’ Soundtrack
In this haunting new love song, Demi, 20, sings about finding her soulmate and never letting go. The song starts off slow and stripped down, with just Demi’s clear voice accompanied by a piano, and slowly builds to the amazing rock crescendo. Demi’s singing on this epic anthem is so beautiful,...

Though we knew that Demi Lovato was going to take the stage at the 2013 Teen Choice Awards on Sunday (August 11) to perform her new hit single, "Made in the USA," she was joined by a surprise guest that made the fans go wild.
The youngest Jonas Brother, Nick Jonas, took over the drums for Lovato's performance, and the two rocked both the song and the awards show. Lovato took home a surfboard for choice female artist, and Jonas won the Acuvue Inspire Award.
When it came to style, however, we were left a little disappointed. Why Lovato thought that sporting a mullet was a good idea is a mystery. It was blonde poof business in front, long party in the back, and terrible all over. Next time, leave the mullet in the '90s where it belongs.

Presenter, performer, and nominee? We’d say it was one heck of the night for ‘X-Factor’ judge Demi Lovato!
Demi Lovato looked and sounded amazing at the 2013 Teen Choice Awards on August 11. Singing her new hit single, ”Made in the USA,” she totally brought down the house!
Demi Lovato’s Performance: Teen Choice Awards
“Made in the USA” was a total hit at the Gibson Amphitheater in Los Angeles on August 11. Not only did Demi rock out on stage, but she invited a hunky Nick Jonas to play the drums during her performance. We’re not joking — he looked amazing. Nick wore a sleeveless shirt, which showed off his hot biceps and abs.
We have to commend Demi. She’s one of the few artists who continues to sing songs live. Her pitch may not be perfect, but she’s perfect to us because of her authenticity.

Well, that was not what we were expecting after anxiously awaiting the music video for the Mumford & Sons song ‘Hopeless Wanderer!’
Mumford & Sons decided to try something completely different for their “Hopeless Wanderer” music video — and it’s quite possibly the best music video we’ve ever seen. The British folk band swapped themselves out with a funny man ensemble featuring Jason Sudeikis, Jason Bateman, Ed Helms, and Will Forte. Here are five things why this video is music and comedy gold.
Top 5 Moments From Mumford & Sons Parody

2. Jason Sudeikis and Will kiss! No, your eyes are not deceiving you. In the heat of the moment, the two former Saturday Night Live stars embrace for a mini-makeout session.

Which one of these cutie patooties stole your heart on Disney Channel? Browse our gallery & prepare to be hit with major nostalgia.
It must have been terribly difficult for Joe Jonas to rank former Disney stars Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, and Miley Cyrus on Watch What Happens Live on July 23. Why? Because there are so many we love! From the early Mouseketeer days (i.e. Britney Spears) to those classic sitcoms (i.e. Lizzie McGuire), we’re going down memory lane — and we want you to pick your favorite former Disney girl of all time.
Favorite Former Disney Girls
Ashley Tisdale: She played the cute candy counter girl, Maddie Fitzpatrick, on The Suite Life of Zack & Cody and then the sassy Sharpay in the High School Musical movies. Today, Ashley is moving forward with more movies — but she’s staying true to her Disney roots by voicing a character on Phineas and Ferb!

Demi Lovato's "Made In The USA" video has debuted online, and it's as American as Miley Cyrus.
"No matter what the people say, I know that we'll never break," Lovato sings on the track, "'cause our love was made, made in the USA." Suffice it to say, "Made In The USA" is as catchy as "Party In The USA."
Lovato tweeted about "Made In The USA" when the Defense of Marriage Act and Proposition 8 were struck down earlier this month. "I'm really glad it fit that day so well. That was such a huge day for America," she said to HuffPost Teen. "It was a historic day -- especially for gay couples -- so I was really excited about that. The song, the special meaning behind it, is all about finding love in the USA. 'Made in the USA' is more than just a sticker on a package.

You win some, you lose some! When it comes to Demi’s two ‘X Factor’ La audition outfits, one was definitely a winner and the other was, well, not. Do you agree? Vote!
Demi Lovato, 21, is really coming of age and discovering herself. Finding herself includes finding her style, and at the two-day auditions for X Factor in La on July 12, Demi showed off two very different looks. Which one do you like better? We think there’s a clear winner here.

She's got a hit album, an addictive single and a new carnival-themed music video on the way just in time for summer.
