The Jeopardy! Masters competition continues to heat up in Season 2, and the highest-ranked current contestants are eager to show off what they know, but who’s feeling confident? What do they love about being back on Jeopardy? What’s different about this stage from the syndicated show? Host Ken Jennings and the six contestants—Matt Amodio, Victoria Groce, James Holzhauer, Yogesh Raut, Mattea Roach, and Amy Schneider—address just that and more in TV Insider’s exclusive video ahead of the new episode airing on May 10. As Jennings points out, there’s quite the prize at stake. “I feel very confident in myself, but at the same time, I recognize this is probably as tough a field as has ever brought me here, so I’m not taking anything for granted,” Holzhauer admits. And as Schneider points out, “I know that anything less than my very best effort and my total focus,...

After Wednesday’s (May 8) game, in which Amodio took on Raut and 2022 Tournament of Champions winner Amy Schneider, the 38-game winner praised Raut’s performance. “Sometimes you lose a #Jeopardy game and think “that was bad luck, I deserved to win this one” Other times you lose a #Jeopardy game to Yogesh,” Amodio wrote on X. “Well played, very impressive! Jeopardy!‘s latest match delivered an early twist among its three players leading to a viewer upset after one majorly fumbled lead. The game featured returning player Allison Gross from Cleveland, Ohio, Jennifer Trofa from Los Angeles, California, and Isabella Dawis from Minneapolis, Minnesota. Early on in the game, Isabella gave Allison a run for her money, leading the pack in the first half of the Jeopardy! round with $6,600 against Allison’s $2,000 and Jennifer’s $800. But the tides turned drastically as they headed into Double Jeopardy! after Isabella lost her massive lead, entering the next round with a mere $600 against Allison’s $4,400, and Jennifer’s $1,000. Isabella’s downfall came with the first Daily Double clue under the category “Let’s Go to the Geopark,” which read, “A geopark named for these people is located on the north coast of Spain near the French border.” The correct response was “Who are the Basques?...

Jeopardy! icon James Holzhauer is currently defending his Jeopardy! Masters title, but he took some time out earlier this week to weigh in on the Kendrick Lamar versus Drake beef. After an X user said, “Beefs don’t work in any other genre. Can you imagine 21 pilots and imagine dragons writing diss tracks about each other,” Holzhauer responded with a classic Jeopardy! clip that proved beefs can certainly happen on game shows. The clip was from the 2020 Greatest of All-Time tournament, which saw Holzhauer battling it out with fellow Jeopardy! legends Ken Jennings and Brad Rutter. The moment featured Holzhauer’s epic diss of Rutter, where he pointed out how Rutter’s score of “0” was still on the screen after the boards reset, and Ken Jennings raised his hands in shock at what Holzhauer had said, reacting with a “Wow!” It was a moment viewers will never forget. “Funniest line ever delivered on Jeopardy!

At the start of Jeopardy! Masters Season 2, Season 1 champ James Holzhauer declared that he was the “final boss” of the entire competition, but so far, it’s been the Victoria Groce show, through and through. In the third night of competition — for Games 5 and 6 on Wednesday, May 8 — Groce once again took the lead and held it. And although it wasn’t a runaway this time (for the first time in Masters‘ second season so far), she still had a commanding performance. So is Victoria Groce the new “final boss” of this season? Well, there’s still a lot of gameplay to go, but she’s off to a good start. Coming into the night, the tallies of match powers were: Victoria Groce in 1st place with 6, James Holzhauer in 2nd place with 4, Yogesh Raut in third place with 4 (because of the tiebreaker being the number of correct responses), Matt Amodio...

Final Jeopardy is meant to be a very tough part of the game, but was Wednesday night’s last clue on Jeopardy! utterly impossible? Some fans certainly seem to vehemently think so — especially since it resulted in a triple stumper. In the category “Rhyme Time: Opera Edition,” the clue was as follows: “Telling the story of a duke, a jester & the jester’s daughter, it was written by poet Francesco Maria Piave.” The answer? “What is the ‘Rigoletto’ Libretto?” None of the contestants got this correct, and two of them —new challengers Ben Mills and Kelcy LópezFreeman— didn’t even venture a guess! Returning champion Allison Gross, meanwhile, gave it a whirl with “What is Don Juan?” which was obviously not right. “That may be one of the most evil FJs I’ve seen in years,” one fan wrote in response to the clue on Reddit. “I honestly feel bad for the contestants.

Jeopardy! contestant Victoria Groce buzzed herself to victory during Friday’s eighth quarterfinal of the ongoing Invitational Tournament, and fans of the game show are applauding her Daily Double-less win. “I’m very impressed with Victoria’s performance today!” one viewer wrote in a Reddit discussion thread for Friday’s episode, after Victoria trounced Ben Ingram, a business control specialist originally from Florence, South Carolina, and Dhruv Gaur, a grad student from Cambridge, Massachusetts (and the contestant who once made Alex Trebek choke up). Victoria, a writer and television personality from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, ended the game with $28,801 after a correct Final Jeopardy! response. It wasn’t a runaway game, though, since Dhruv had $14,400 going into Final Jeopardy! He responded incorrectly and ended up in third place with $5,999, behind Ben, who scored $7,654. “Victoria was on fire with the buzzer and Ben and Dhruv could hardly ring in,” another person wrote. “You...

Jeopardy! has been experimenting with format tweaks over the past year, including contestant and puzzle board split screens and, more controversially, encouraging contestants to recite the entire category names. However, as many viewers have noticed during the currently airing Jeopardy! Invitational Tournament, the show seems to have relaxed its rule that contestants must read out the whole category every time they select a clue. The game show’s executive producer, Michael Davies, confirmed this rule relaxation on a recent episode of Inside Jeopardy! podcast, where he admitted the change didn’t quite work as intended. “I dont think we’ve made a perfect change,” Davies said. “We had briefed the contestants to give full names of categories… and then people have commented on that.” “We’ve obviously gone back,” he continued. “If it’s a 12-word category, we’re not asking you to repeat all 12 words. It was getting a little informal,...

The Jeopardy! Invitational Tournament continued on Tuesday night (March 26) as three more former champions returned to the Alex Trebek Stage for another shot at glory. Arthur Chu, a writer originally from Cleveland, Ohio, who finished as 1st runner-up in the 2014 Tournament of Champions, faced off against 19-game champion David Madden and 2021 Tournament of Champions quarterfinalist MacKenzie Jones. Chu, who was once called Jeopardy!‘s “first villain,” led after the first round, standing at $6,400 to Madden’s $4,200 and Jones’ $2,200. However, things dramatically shifted in Double Jeopardy! thanks to two crucial Daily Doubles. Madden found the first Daily Double and added $5,000 to his total. Chu then found the second Daily Double and chose to wager a massive $10,000. He answered incorrectly, losing a considerable chunk of his earnings and giving Madden a runaway going into Final Jeopardy. Heading into Final Jeopardy, Madden stood at $18,400, while Chu had $5,600, and Jones trailed with $600. Even though...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the March 25 episode of Jeopardy!] Amy Schneider was “very hard to beat,” as host Ken Jennings put it, in the latest Jeopardy! Invitational Tournament game, and already fans think that her win is foreshadowing the outcome of the entire tournament. The writer who was a 40-game champion, won the 2022 Tournament of Champions, and previously finished in fifth in the Jeopardy Masters faced off against 12-game champion Austin Rogers, a bar owner who was the 2017 Tournament of Champions second runner-up and All-Star Games participant, and five-game champion Celeste Dinucci, an arts strategist who was the 2007 Tournament of Champions winner and Battle of the Decades participant. Players are competing to win $100,000 and an invitation to compete in the 2024 Jeopardy Masters tournament. Jennings was right, that it was hard to beat and even “hard to catch” Schneider with her score. She led at every break and found two of the three Daily Doubles. (Rogers found the ...

The Price Is Right fans said goodbye to host Bob Barker last year, but the show continues with Drew Carey taking over his duties. It has recently been revealed the show does have behind the scenes protocols they must follow. Recently, a former producer from the show revealed one protocol that is a little surprising. It shows that behind the scenes, the administration team takes things very seriously despite all the fun everyone has on the set.
Safety Is Important On The Price Is Right
Drew Carey, the current host of the game show once had to have a contestant’s wife come on stage to help out because he had dislocated his shoulder. How did that happen? Big prizes mean lots of excitement and sometimes huge celebrations. As a contestant was yelling with joy at winning a trip to Hawaii, he discolated his shoulder. So, his wife took over...

Former Jeopardy! producer Mike Richards is finally talking about what went wrong for him in his ill-fated stint as host two years ago.
Richards was announced as the full-time replacement for the late Alex Trebek in 2021. He lasted just one day before resigning after questions arose about his conduct.
“We never discussed how to replace Alex once we knew he was sick,” Richards told People in a new interview. “A conversation like that would have been so disrespectful. We had talked about people coming in and guest hosting if Alex got too sick. But we always knew Alex would come back until the day he decided he couldn’t.”
Trebek died of pancreatic cancer in November 2020. At that point, several guest hosts were brought in as executives struggled to determine who would be the host.

A new victor has now emerged from Jeopardy!‘s 31st Tournament of Champions, which finally produced the series’ winner in Tuesday night’s nail-biter of an episode. So that really completes the experience.” In terms of preparing for the game show, Chan touched on his unique buzzer technique.
