This movie, though interesting, is filled with clichés. It is about a young girl who marries into a wealthy family. She grew up in poverty and wants the grandeur his family provides. When she has her first child the husband hates her and the child so in desperation she leaves the child with her aging mother to raise while she pursues a career and runs from a bad marriage. I must applaud it for delving into the interracial aspects. Her daughter, Jenny, grows up to fall in love with a black man whom she is ashamed to bring around her family. This shames the grandmother and further alienates her from her mother. It is a story of love, forgiveness, social mores, and passions that make us strive for something that is often unattainable.
