Comedy actors Anke Engelke and Bastian Pastewka will star in a new German original series for Amazon Prime Video to be produced by Bildundtonfabrik.
The series is due to appear on the platform next year. Further details on the show have yet to be announced.
“Anke Engelke and Bastian Pastewka are a real dream team in front of the camera. Viewers can look forward to their first series project together on Prime Video,” said Philip Pratt, head of German originals for Prime Video.
News of the show was revealed by Pratt on Tuesday at a panel during the Berlin Film Festival about Prime Video’s international content strategy. Other speakers included head of Nordic Originals, Karin Lindström, and head of Nigerian Originals, Amazon Studios and Prime Video, Wangi Mba-Uzoukwu.

MUNICH -- Producers of Germany's top two boxoffice hits last year said Wednesday that they're teaming up on a project that they believe will have the broad appeal of Shrek. Michael Bully Herbig, producer, director, co-writer and star of (T)Raumschiff Surprise -- Periode 1, (Starship Surprise -- Period 1), which has sold more than 9 million tickets since its release in July, will star in Hui Buh -- Das Schlossgespenst (Hui Buh -- The Castle Ghost). Castle is being produced by Munich-based Rat Pack Filmproduktion GmbH, the Constantin Films subsidiary responsible for Edgar Wallace's summer sleeper hit detective spoof Der Wixxer. With about 2 million tickets sold, it came in a distant but respectable second to Starship.

BERLIN -- Falcom Media Group, the Swiss distribution company set up earlier this year by former Highlight executive Andreas Fallscheer, on Mondayannounced a deal with Bertelsmann subsidiary Universum Film that will see Falcom set up its own DVD and video label for German-speaking territories. The first titles to be released under the new label will include Mimic 2, Chuck Norris actioner McCourd and science fiction feature Absolon, starring Christopher Lambert. Falcom also has German-language rights to Roberto Benigni's live-action Pinocchio, the David Zucker-directed comedy The Guest and German-language feature Der Wixxer (The Wanker).
