The story of Spielberg's E.T. (= electric toothbrush)
Chip_douglas24 October 2008
Isn't it amazing what you can find on IMDb. This elaborately titled segment is basically the credits for the various short documentaries on the A.I. DVD with some outtakes from the Steven Spielberg interview and a couple of clips from the movie spliced into it. Or rather shown underneath it. Usually this place is reserved for more lighthearted spiel, but here Steven sincerely talks about his electric toothbrush and what it would be like if it had Artificial Intelligence and sang you a song every morning. Then he talks about new human inventions that take over our world and become part of our future like the internet, the responsibility we have to take limiters, ethical moral etc and he never forgets to mention that A.I. is really Stanley Kubrick's story. It's really anyone's guess if this piece can be taking seriously or not. I suppose it all comes down to your own opinion.
