The Bolshoi Ballet: Romeo and Juliet was banned from being broadcast on TV in Brazil in 1977 by the Brazilian government (at the time, a military dictatorship). The reason for the ban, according to the then Minister of Justice, Armando Falcão, was that the Bolshoi, being a Russian ballet company, and Russia being part of the Soviet Union, could show a communist view of the play. Even after the re-democratization in 1985, the 1976 version of "Romeo and Juliet" by Bolshoi Ballet was never broadcast or released in Brazil.
