Sex & Nudity

  • In one scene, a grown man has an underage girlfriend, who is mentioned to have been pregnant by him at the age of fourteen. We see their baby, making the girl roughly sixteen. He is aggressive and neglectful towards her, while she seems quite attached to him. The actress who plays the girl was 30 years old at the time of filming.
  • A fully-grown man gets his fourteen-year-old girlfriend pregnant. Years later, he reunites with his fourteen-year-old daughter. This coincidence may be uncomfortable to some.
  • A woman in her underwear is seen striking a series of lustful poses while sitting on a motorbike.
  • A woman attempts to seduce her male friend, stripping down to her underwear and posing lustfully on a motorbike. She backs him up against a wall, rubs his chest and tries to unbutton his pants off-camera. The man turns her down repeatedly, and eventually she stops.
  • A man briefly hugs his fourteen-year-old daughter, she however doesn't know he is her father, so the situation is a little strange from her perspective. She pushes him away gently and says with an incredulous look, "Click-click, channel change! No more hugging for today."
  • We see a woman taking a bubble bath. Nothing is seen.
  • A man and a woman talk while she is taking a bath. He kneels beside her and plants passionate kisses on her head and cheek. She closes her eyes and they nuzzle lovingly.
  • In one scene, a fourteen-year-old character mistakenly assumes she is about to get 'a sex talk' and begins reciting everything she knows about the subject. "HIV, condoms, oral, anal..." She says she hasn't had her period yet and that no boy would want her because she has "no tits." She mentions she measures her bust up to three times a day, before going on to list the things she dislikes about her body.
  • A man with a mental disability hears the book title, "Winnie the Pooh," and laughs mischievously saying, "Poo!"
  • A man and woman passionately kiss, moving from the kitchen counter to the pantry. We hear moaning from inside and the doors rattle. They emerge from the pantry breathless yet fully clothed, with the man's shirt unbuttoned at the top. He reaches down, off-camera, and it is unclear whether he is buttoning his pants or just tucking his shirt in. The man passionately kisses her a few more times before she leaves. This scene is quite brief.
  • During a game of golf, a character asks, "Speaking of whackin', what's going on with you and Flora?" He then says, "You know, she doesn't wear [...] undies."

Violence & Gore

  • A man destroys his girlfriend's radio with a baseball bat, as well as smashing her cassette tapes on the ground while screaming at her.
  • A man is held at gunpoint.
  • A young girl vomits into a toilet after excessive drinking. Her father holds back her hair and cuddles her. It's difficult to see any vomit.
  • While on a golf course, a man tackles another man to the ground and they wrestle. One man gets a punch to the eye. A pop song is played over this, and it is meant to be fairly comedic.

Profanity

  • The language in this film is very mild. Only a few uses of words like 'ass,' 'shit,' or 'shitty.'

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • The following slogan is repeated throughout the film. "Get high on grass. The LEGAL kind." This is in reference to a golf-course.
  • A character is said to have a talent for creating cannabis seed hybrids, and to have combined it with his passion for golf into a legal and lucrative empire.
  • Multiple characters are seen drinking. This ranges from excessive drinking of beer, to characters making a toast with champagne.
  • One character continually smokes cigarettes.
  • A young girl smokes a cigarette in her room. When someone knocks on the door, she throws the cigarette out the window and masks the scent with hairspray.
  • A fourteen-year-old girl gets drunk.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The opening scene is frightening and intense, with a lot of shouting and violence amongst a family. The fact that this is shot on a shaky handheld camera in a single take, with washed-out colours and a compressed ratio makes it an unpleasantly realistic scene, as well as quite nauseating due to the constant spinning of the camera.
  • A young girl steals some posters from a shop.
  • A man with a mental disability is told the plot to 'Charlotte's Web.' When the titular character's death is mentioned, he bursts into tears, repeatedly saying, "Momma died!"
