Interesting but lacks teeth
bob the moo14 December 2002
A man enters a deserted unused room to find it knee deep in litter. He re-enters moments later with a vacuum cleaner ready to suck it all up. However, as any English Local Authority will tell you, the litter appears to have a mind of it's own and be multiplying.

I watched this short with no prior knowledge of what it was about. It is a drama of sorts where the litter problem takes on a mountainous challenge to one man. It doesn't quite manage to work because it has nowhere interesting to really go. It has a few good ideas but other than that it goes just where you suspect it will. The animation is OK and the atmosphere is nice and dark but the film needed a stronger direction and better action, although the climax is good enough.

The man (Stone) is OK despite the total lack of dialogue and makes a sweaty main focus point for the action. The litter itself lacks character - even when it suddenly becomes a pulsating tower in front of Stone it manages to be without teeth and remain nothing more than good animation rather than a character in a story.

Overall it has it's strong points (good animation, dark tone and good ideas) but the main weakness (lack of plotting) undercuts most of the strengths making it interesting but no more than that.
