Keeps you guessing

Warning: Spoilers
I caught this on cable last night and I must admit it was better than the title suggests. It kept me guessing until the last 20 minutes when we learn the killers identities. You think is only one person committing all the mayhem, but is actually three of them. This fun splatter movie on a budget features plenty of nudity, the shower scene reminded me of those in 1980's prison movies. Surprisingly, the lead actress shows it all and manages to live without a scratch on her. Something that intrigued me was the fact the deaths of all the males were more violent than the ones of the females, these poor guys were gutted, dragged, kicked, etc... while the females died quickly, there is the possibility their deaths were edited out. For example, in one scene a girl is about to get an ax to the head, but we never get to see it. Damn rating systems.

I liked it

First let me say the video cover does NOT do justice to this thriller. So, if you come across this one and are a fan of slashers, pick it up and rent it.

OK, I'm a big fan of B-movies. This is cheesy and funny and I loved it. The special effects are pretty cool. Plenty of random gratuitous breast, penis and butt shots. The last twenty minutes or so featured what I think is one of the best chase scenes between the heroine ( forgot her name) and the killers. Not rated, but if it was rated R, it would be for graphic violence, grisly images, strong language, one very strong sex scene, nudity and adult themes.

Good slasher flick, with some humor thrown in.
Linda8313 June 2005
This movie begins with two counselors: Vicky and Ben (Stacy Ann Wilkins and Reuben Rox) walking in the woods looking for a perfect spot to have sex. After they are done, she decides to go swimming, he goes back to the camp, the camera follows him to the cabins where we meet some of the male campers: Angel, Oscar and James (Terrence Baker, Pedro Gutierrez and Michael Cruz), we also meet counselor Ned (Christopher Williams) who happens to be smoking pot in the bathroom. Once he is finished he walks out of the cabin bumping into fellow counselor Candy (Suzanne Hart), she's on her way to the girls cabin and as she enters we can tell they are already up, all of them are in the shower: Urzula, Sue, Chelita and Minnie (Jill Meyers, Candice Sharp, Maya Tesashita, Liza Moore). This was a very lenghty shower sequence inter-cut with the guys showering at the same time.

At the dining hall we meet the camp's owner Mrs Gere (Lynne West), nurse Tina (Alison Cuffe) and two more counselors: Gus and Mimi (Kent Gregory, Deborah Jolson). As campers and counselors are eating breakfast a fight breaks out between Angel and James, counselors Ben and Gus separate them, in the process Gus is cut with a knife, nurse Tina tends to him, they go to her office and make out.

I guess all these scenes were for the audience to learn a little about all of the characters and they succeed as we quickly discover who are bitches, spoiled rich kid, the drug addict, the nice counselors, the counselors who don't give a damn, etc.

And now the body count:

1= Counselor Mimi - knife through mouth, little blood.

2= Camper Angel - off-screen stabbed in eye with icicle, no blood.

3=Counselor Ben - stomach slashed with machete, guts come out.

4=Counselor Vicky - machete on shoulder while naked, some blood.

5=Counselor Gus - ax buried in chest, quite bloody.

6= Camper Chelita - ax to the head, little blood.

7= Counselor Ned - beaten to death with shovels.

8= Camper Oscar - drowned in lake.

9= Nurse Tina - leg chopped off, lots of blood.

10= Mrs. Gere - stabbed in the stomach with knife, bloody.

11= Camper Minnie - off-screen, found dead on bed, throat cut open.

12= Camper James - hand chopped off, foot stabbed with knife, scalped with machete, very bloody.

Not really worth searching for it

Warning: Spoilers
I searched for this low budgeter for years after hearing the good reviews, sadly we've seen it all before.

I give it 5 stars because there are loads of male and female nudity, the latter provided by the sensual Stacy Ann Wilkins (she does all her scenes topless or completely nude), two or three nicely executed graphic killings, a touch of humor and a pretty lenghty cat fight towards the end of the movie.

A few cast members are pretty good, but most do embarrass themselves. I don't expect brilliant acting in Horror movies, but I do expect the lead to be at least sympathetic and able to pull off the heroine role. Another thing that bothered me was the fact most of the killings were repeats, we've seen them all before. Sure there was some gore, but nothing groundbreaking.

You'll be better off watching Friday the 13th, The Burning or any other counselors getting sliced and diced movie.

Children of the Corn go to Camp Crystal Lake.

Warning: Spoilers
I was home last night with nothing to do, turned on the satellite dish and came across this horror film. Camp Happy Thoughts (no kidding, that was the camp's name) houses teenagers with anger issues, drug and alcohol problems, etc. and boy oh boy, are these campers mad about something. The movie opens with two of these campers fighting in the dining hall, there they are separated by two counselors who wouldn't you know it? are the first ones to die. These murders are fairly bloodless, but the set up was scary. Most of the counselors are unlikeable so when they die you are a bit glad they do, on the other hand when the counselors you think will make it end up dying first. It is very disturbing when evil wins.

Okay

Not great, not bad, just okay. Bunch of counselors meet grisly deaths in Friday the 13th fashion. Most of the girls are strong willed, but bitches while the guys are merely fodder for the killer. Nothing new here, just fairly well done. Just watch for the different ways people die, none are alike. This movie has all the typical nudity and then some. All of the young cast takes their clothes off at one time or another. There are comedy bits here and there provided by Ms. West, plenty of gore and decent acting. Something I really didn't like about this one was the hatefulness and nastiness towards men.

There are a couple of surprises along the way, but nothing new.

Warning: Spoilers
!The following contains spoilers, do not read if you are planning on watching the film!

In the opening scene we meet the main counselors : Suzanne Hart (the sweet and naive, but sexy chick Candy), Lynne West (the camp's owner Mrs. Gere), Stacy Ann Wilkins ( the counselor who loves swimming naked for no apparent reason Vicky, Ruben Rox (the one who really cares about helping the campers Ben), Kent Gregory ( the typical stud and prankster Gus) and Alison Cuffe (the bitchy nurse Tina). Then we get to meet the campers, some which are kind of old to be campers, but who cares anyway: Jill Meyers (the bitch, antisocial kid Urzula), Candice Sharp (the don't get me mad cause I'll kick your ass camper Sue), Pedro Gutierrez (the camper who doesn't talk to anyone except one or two counselors Oscar) Ned Williams (the spoiled rich camper Ned), Michael Cruz (the beer drinking, drug taking James) and Maya Tesashita (the only camper happy to be there Chelita). So, we have all the classic steretypes and that's okay, the film is great, it shifts from comedy to suspense to terror brilliantly.

15 minutes into the movie people start getting killed in some pretty gory and graphic ways.

There are some great scenes in this movie:

Lynne West's nasty surprise in the kitchen. Stacy Ann Wilkin's swimming in a lake without realizing there are human body parts in there. Maya Terashita's head being split in two in the middle. Ruben Rox running through the woods before getting killed. Alison Cuffe's and Kent Gregory's making out in the woods scene. Suzanne Hart freaking out when she realizes what's going on. Michael Cruz's death by throat ripping. Alison Cuffe trying to save Kent Gregory. Alison Cuffe, Candice Sharp and Lynne West fighting off the killers. etc...

Once the first victim dies, the action is non-stop as campers and counselors meet horrible deaths.

To summarize, the are great effects, lots of nudity, funny one-liners, great death scenes and decent acting. Plus the DVD features bloopers and interviews with the director, producers and main cast. Check it out, its a lot of creepy fun.

This review is for the "R" rated version.

Warning: Spoilers
Just about three hours or so I caught this flick on cable and it was pretty good. I'm glad I recorded it. It was the "R" rated version and it had plenty of skin and bloody murders. I've never seen the uncut version, so I don't know exactly how much gore or scenes were cut out.

About 15 minutes into the movie the first counselor gets it, this wasn't particularly bloody, but scared the hell out of me as she gets killed totally by surprise, it was so unexpected. Now that I think about it, most of the deaths happen that way. The scene that was the most memorable for me was with the girl who likes skinny dipping, when she finds her boyfriend mutilated she runs away completely naked!

It's scary, bloody, surprising and unnerving.

Warning: Spoilers
Revenge of the Unhappy Campers 2002. Starring a bunch of unknown actors, is easily one of the best horror films I've watched in a very long time. Very atmospheric, I jumped quite a few times out of my seat.

I don't remember exactly how many people die, surely over a dozen counselors/campers were butchered. There were two very disturbing murders, not so much how they died, but the actors face/body reactions. They looked very real and painful. For those who watch these movies for the nudity, you'll be happy to know most of the cast take their clothes off at one time or another.

I'm a huge horror fan, especially love all those slashers in the tradition of the Friday the 13th films. If you are too, you need to watch it.

Fun low budget movie!!!
blackmumbastar23 January 2004
I searched for this movie everywhere on the internet and finally bought myself a copy, I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED. The low budget is kind of obvious at times, it really doesn't matter 'cause the film is well done. Most people seem to like the scenes with the skinny dipping girl in the blood soaked lake and the fat lady who is always eating something, but my fave scene has the nurse (AAlison Cuffy) trying to save her boyfriend (Kenneth Greg) in the woods after they are attacked and his guts come out of his stomach, I believe this was the most intense scene in the movie, other gory scenes that were good were the asian girl's (can't remember her name)head split down the middle and the cabin smeared with tons of blood.
