- Otto, studio policeman: [Not recognizing Edgar as he is dressed in stereotyped director's clothes] Where's your pass?
- Edgar, Movie Director: Otto, don't you know me?
- [takes off his hat to show him his bald head]
- Edgar, Movie Director: Look. it's Edgar, huh!
- Otto, studio policeman: [laughs] I didn't know you in them togs.
- Edgar, Movie Director: [Embarrassed] Well, I've been duck huntin'.
- Otto, studio policeman: What? On a horse?
- Garner - the Producer: Carol, Carol, listen, be a good little girl and get into bed.
- Carol Bonet - the Tempermental Movie Star: I won't get into bed. Not with THAT director.
- Florence Kennedy - Edgar's Wife: Oh, my goodness. There's a murder in the paper every morning.
- Edgar, Movie Director: [glaring at Brother] Wait 'til you see the evening papers.
- Edgar, Movie Director: Now that you've got your autograph, will you sit down and be quiet someplace BEFORE I COMMIT MURDER!
- Garner - the Producer: And remember, a good director never takes a scene more than twice.
- Edgar, Movie Director: I'll never shoot over two takes on any scene, Mr. Garner.
