Well...it's short and sweet thats for sure...

What to say about "Dog Brain"... Well, there really isn't much to this film, it consists of an animated dog and, well...an animated dog! I'm assuming the creator was inspired by a great boredom, and possibly the use of marijuana (or some other narcotic), at least i'd like to hope so. I'm finding it hard to even find enough to say about this, so it will be accepted, and well, it's a task. I gave it a 2 to be nice, it probably deserves far less. Running just under 2 minutes in length, this short film, by J.Falconer, basically answers the question we've all been asking...what does Rover dream of when he is sleeping? Now i can honestly say that this is the first Falconer animation i've seen, and it hasn't tempted me to see anymore.

Fun piece of animation to watch

I was first introduced to "Dog Brain" in the 80's when Nickelodian used this and other Canadian produced animated shorts to fill time between programs. Anyways, this was Jay Falconer's first animated short. Basically, Dog Brain is about a dog taking a snooze while various sounds play in the background (i.e.: kids playing outside, an ice cream man going by, etc.). During which the dog barks....softly......and continues to snooze. It makes one wonder.....what does a dog dream about when sleeping? UPDATE: I recently discovered that this animation short along with some other animated shorts from International Rocketship LTD. are on a compilation called "The International Rocketship Reel". As of this writing, it can only be found on VHS & is out of print. This has yet to be released on DVD but until then, if you can find it, GRAB IT!! If you are (like me) a person who loves cartoons (be it classic Looney Tunes or works that are "way out there") you won't be disappointed. In addition, this compilation also has "Bambi Meets Gozilla" from 1969. Enjoy!!

Best Movie Ever

Let me put it this way... this is a masterpiece of minimalism and a chilling existential critique. I wouldn't listen to others, if I were you, who imply that this extremely short film disturbed their carefully calculated sensibilities. If you have any understanding of what it may be like to have a greater understanding of reality, then there is a zero percent chance that you will not be fascinated by this film. The implication presented by some reviewers that narcotics influenced this work in any way is a accusation born of false and envious desires. This is a simple film you can watch with your kids or your nephew or your dog (if you do that) and it will not turn them into dope-fiends. End of Story.
