Sex & Nudity

  • No sex or nudity.
  • Some teenage girls are seen wearing low-cut and/or midriff-baring tops.
  • Teenage couples kiss a few times. In one scene, two teens make out pretty passionately in a music room. They bump into musical equipment and topple over onto the floor, but they are fully clothed. Sex is a possible implication, but it is never seen or talked about afterward.
  • A teenage girl flirts a little with one of her male teachers, but it's nothing overt. He is always nice to her, but he never crosses the line. The flirting all comes from her end, obviously because she's trying to be the "teacher's pet".
  • A teenage boy is playing music on his guitar, and two teenage girls come over to dance to the beat. They shake their bodies and dance suggestively.
  • Two teen characters allude to having had a serious, quick-moving relationship in the past, but they've broken up since then. The girl, who refuses to accept that it's over, flirts with him throughout the movie. In one scene, she puts her hand on his lower back, but he pushes it away. Later, she attempts to seduce him by saying "I'm bad, but I could be badder", and then she kisses him.
  • A teenage girl asks another teenage girl if the guy she was talking to was "macking on" her (e.g. flirting). Then she talks about how this specific guy has a reputation for hitting on nice girls.

Violence & Gore

  • There is a car accident at the beginning of the movie, but it isn't really violent or gory at all; the scene fades out as the truck smashes into the other car, so all we hear is a loud crash. One of the passengers is seen hooked up to hospital equipment in the next scene, with a small abrasion on her forehead.

Profanity

  • There are a few uses of the word "Damn" "Hell" and "Jackass"

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Terri's aunt Nina is seen drinking beer in many scenes. At one point, after going through something stressful, she claims that she "needs a drink".
  • A teenage boy gets drunk late at night and behaves erratically, yelling and bumping into things.
  • Some teenagers go to a bar for Open Mic Night, but they do not drink.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • There is a very emotional subplot involving the death of Terri's brother in the car crash. Most of the sad scenes related to this happen in the first 25 minutes of the movie, but Terri is also seen dealing with post traumatic stress throughout the film, as she freaks out whenever she sees bright lights.
