TORONTO -- Halifax-based integrated TV and new-media producer Collideascope Digital Prods. will receive the Canadian producers' 2005 Entrepreneur of the Year award in February, it was announced Monday. The Canadian Film and Television Production Assn., representing major domestic film and TV producers, also said veteran Canadian producer and distributor Stephen Ellis, president of Ellis Entertainment, will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award at the CFTPA's conference in Ottawa on Feb. 4. Collideascope was formed in 1995 by Michael-Andreas Kuttner and Steve Comeau and most recently produced Rock Camp, a reality kids show for the Canadian Broadcasting Corp., and 26 episodes of Olliver's Adventures for Teletoon. Past winners of the Entrepreneur of the Year award include Nelvana, Alliance Atlantis Communications and Rhombus Media. Stephen Ellis is the second-generation head of Toronto-based Ellis Entertainment, which is best known for its nature programming. The awards will be handed out at the CFTPA's Prime Time in Ottawa conference in the nation's capital in early February.
