'Never gets old; fun to watch and re-watch
runemesa13 March 2005
I can't believe there's only one other review besides mine at this point. KWOON has been available on DVD now for quite a while. If you took the time to read this review, PLEASE GO RENT OR BUY THE KWOON DVD. The cast and crew of this entertaining gem puts every ounce of ability, charm, fun and action they could squeeze in.

You won't be disappointed. Even if you're not much a fan of comedies, like me, you'll love this. It's silly, but not too silly. It's got kung fu, and it is authentic, but it's not presented or performed or arranged in a boring way. Both the comedy and the action are equally pleasing. Also, the sets, locations, music and cinematography work very well. The camera lets you see what's going on. Very few edits during the action, so it's not annoying. For a low-budget series (I think each episode averaged about $15,000-$20,000 each), you get so much entertainment and aesthetics, plus slightly larger casts than other films/shows on that kind of a budget.

The extras on the DVD are many and a lot of fun. They filled it as full as possible, it appears.

You must experience the awesome fury that is KWOON.

It's like Porno but with Kung Fu instead of Sex.
vindicus-129 September 2004
The KWOON DVD is chock full of goodies. The 3 episodes are about a group of guys who work at a kung fu school. It features former UFC fighter Onassis Parungao, IKF Heavyweight World Champion San Shou fighter Cung Le and The Metro newspaper's 2004 Best Film Promoter in the Bay Area Todd Roy. They fight a mummy in one episode and Todd's nipples get bloody. They fight the Grim Reaper in another episode and Todd's nipples get bloody. They fight a gangster and his minions in another episode and Todd's nipples get bloody.

The DVD also has lots of video clips mainly of Todd hitting on women and cracking jokes. There are also 7 hidden menus so get the DVD and start searching.

kwoon is pretty good in my book

I really liked it.

It can be cheesy, but if you like Simpsons humor you'll like this DVD. Not to mention the kung fu isn't bad at all. I think the effort to bring in REAL martial artists in, is what appeals to me the most. Nowadays everybody flys around on wires. They seem to show some real kung fu for a change, very refreshing.

The bonus vids on the DVD are SOOOO hilarious. Last thing, is the site... ... So much bonus information...You have to read the Pilot script that Todd has written, It's hilarious! After looking at the site, it's interesting to note, that the KWOON guys were one of the 1st (if Not "THE" 1st) in their internet genre of making Kung Fu movies for the internet.

I hope they make more stuff. Now a KWOON fan

DVD is funny. Best 87 cents ever spent
fingfilmfan14 June 2015
FYE, the DVD store, is selling this currently for 67 cents. I highly recommend this. This is extremely funny kung fu comedy. I was expecting a single person with a video camera low grade quality. This is much better produced than I expected. This is not Hollywood quality, but is still very well done. The web site is apparently defunct. The previews do not do this justice, so ignore them. The episodes are very much worth watching. $2,65 on amazon. I thought I might watch this, or part of it, once, and possibly just dispose of it: nope. This is a keeper. The kung phooey is great! The martial arts action is great! The only thing this is missing is a cameo from leslie nielson. This stars some high end martial arts talent.

Cult classic waiting to be found

Stumbled upon this at a comic book convention, and it's amazing. Good Kung Fu, bad acting. For reals. The story is solid enough, and you can tell they are all having fun. Lots of good running jokes, and surprisingly feminist for a show with almost all men. My favorite was the mummy episode. Lost the disk years ago, and I'm still super bummed.
