MONTREAL -- The 28th edition of the Montreal World Film Festival got under way Thursday night, with organizers touting the event's 245 feature films up for discovery over an apparent lack of star wattage. "There really aren't a lot of stars expected to come here," festival spokesman David Novek said Thursday afternoon ahead of the opening-night screening of Ghyslaine Cote's Elles Etaient Cinq (The Five of Us). Novek instead said Montreal is more targeted at the cinemagoing public than major studios. The slim group of mainstream stars on the agenda include Isabelle Adjani, who will be in Montreal today to receive a special festival tribute, and Penelope Cruz, who will be present Sept. 2-3 for the North American premiere of the Italian film Don't Move, in which she stars.
