Super documentary highlighting Freddy Cole's career and his emergence from brother Nat's shadow

Firstly I have to state that I live in the UK and have been a total fan of Freddy Cole since I first heard him way back in 1976. His output of recordings has been staggering and I have been at a loss as to why he has had so little recognition here in the UK. I was delighted to hear about this short documentary addressing my concern.

I was not to be disappointed when given the chance to view the film. There are some excellent excerpts of live performances by Freddy and the trio which will be a revelation to those who have not been fortunate enough to have seen him live.

There are some interesting, informative, spoken contributions from notable and respected people (although perhaps their pedigree might have been displayed in the film for the benefit of non jazz fans)which are conducted with many of Freddy's tracks playing sufficiently audibly but not obtrusively as a background.

For music lovers of "the American Songbook", fans of Michael Buble, Buddy Greco, Jack Jones et al this film is a must see and hopefully would get Freddy the recognition he richly deserves.

Overall, an excellent film, not too long, Freddy is the main attraction throughout, which addresses sensitively it's title "The Cole Nobody Knows"

Excellent - it's like jumping into Freddy Cole's world

Excellent 21 minute documentary. That will take you right into Freddy's world. Super editing and the people interviewed are not only jazz giants themselves but they are able to articulate what I call the Freddy Cole experience.

Clay Walker did a great job capturing it all, it feels like Nancy Wilson, Monty Alexander, Dave Newman, H Johnson, Nancy Wilson and others are telling ME about Freddy; not to even mention Freddy himself explaining so many things to us.

Loved the video of the live performances too.

Great job - really enjoyed it.
