Lots of action, may be scary for little kids. Nothing truly graphic. Hellboy squeezes a small flying critter until it explodes (this is in the trailer); there is violent sword fighting, a stabbing (offscreen) with blood, a monster is shot with a big gun, and a mythical troll-type character ends up in a rotary grinder (offscreen, but audible.)

Name-calling, some uses of sh*t and *ss. No f-words, save for a mispronounciation of "focus".

Hellboy smokes a few cigars. Two characters are intoxicated in one scene.
