(warning: this review may contain lots of spoilers and I mean a lot so if don't want to be spoiled please click off my review)
Seen as there hasn't been a single review for the past 17 years now (no kidding), I guess I'll add my thoughts towards the series. Since there only seems to be one review here which I might touch on.
Haru Glory a teenage boy is on a quest to find the rave and is in search of his missing. He leaves his town alongside his travel companion Plue. He later meets a Elie a cute and beautiful young woman who has been suffer from amnisa and wants to learn more about her past so she accompanies Haru on his quest to find the rave.
Hiro Mashima did an excellent job with the series and it's characters. Though the only problem is the series ended at a cliff-hanger which leaves a lot of questions unanswered. Like will Haru ever collect the rave stones? What are Siegharts intentions for helping Haru and his team? And what are the Lucia planning with the rest of the six? Also will we ever get an uncut dub with at least some of the current voice cast????
But overall, I still enjoyed watching series the character and the villains were all well written. The only character I probably didn't like were the three bandits in the rubber suits. The episodes with them in them were probably the worst the entire series.
I also thought the animation by studio deen was very well done.
Now I will touch on a few point from the only review by Silversword1 from 2004.
I will first point out that even though I get where you are coming from but Writing Your Review Like This isn't going to get the full point across.
"Selection Of Voice Actors No Voice Fits Any Character" I will say you are half right but I am going to counter this point by saying that it's not that none of the actors fit it's that the series has really bad voice direction to the point where the actor aren't getting to show their potential. I mean they had freaking the voice of Spongebob aka Tom Kenny and my VA the voice actor Yuri Lowenthal the voice of Ben Tennyson which is the eye candy in the dub and I'll admit there actually was a few characters like a the members of the orasian 6 i.e Reina, Haja, Julias and Berial, Shuda, Lucia, Gale, King, a few of the guardians and Hedara had the best voices in the dub. With Haru voice just gradually getting better. I do wish though Sieghart had a different actor from Shuda as I thought Crispin Freeman sounded too similar his more intimidating scenes didn't sound very intimidating. Mean while Michelle Ruff did well in elie's emotional breakdown scenes but she was over the top in her more tigger happy scenes.
A lot of the editing such as gun shots being changed to lesser shots, suggestive scenes being toned down as well as having a flashbacks cut does also deuterates the experience from the watcher. Not to mention (although I am not heavily effected by it) but whole soundtrack change kind of was inferior the Japanese track although the power of destiny actually was catchy.
However, on the plus there aren't any episodes missing as it looks like all 51 episodes but I would still recommend to watch the Japanese subtitled version over it as there is unfortunately no uncut dub and the chances for one currently are very slim with the series being out of print. Hopefully though some day if this series gets a reboot or another season (the chances for that are also slim) we might finally get the true rave master experience.
If you enjoy fairy tail, Seven deadly sins, Magi and Eden Zero I do recommend this anime.
