Outlandish and ironic film about a small-time thief who enters an institution like insane
ma-cortes3 April 2023
A ridiculous and boring comedy with motley set pieces, mayhem and no sense of style. A grossed-out film with numerous naughty and picaresque situations such as ridiculous jokes , bad taste , blasphemy and adult scenes . Basilio (Karra Elejalde) , a pickpocket no luck, entered a mental institution to retrieve a valuable necklace that briefly passed through his hands. So our protagonist pretends to be crazy to enter a psychiatric sanatorium where is admitted Amanda (Sílvia Bel) to whom he had previously given the necklace believing that it had no value . While there he falls in love and discovers a series of farces.

This is a hilarious hallucinogenic comedy , with plenty of parody , surrealist events , extreme spoof and gross-out but also with some brief moments being bold and fun . However , it also contains uneven comedy , scatological humor , profanity and grossed issues . Stars, writes and directs Karra Elejalde who is definitely much better as an actor than as a director .The bizarre ironies here are funny , sad and sometimes shocking . This is a comical and sometimes embarrassing account of a series of ca-crazy characters at a mental institution from the personal, social , cultural and religious perspective . The flick is realized in ¨Airbag¨ style , a successful Spanish film by Juanma Bajo Ulloa also written and starred by Kara Elejalde , full of quirk roles , amazing events , abundant craziness and strange situations . Director , writer Karra wanted to set his flick from the point of view of a roguish thief who attempts to retrieve a necklace at whatever cost . The characters are all odd , grotesque and weird and the film races on at incredible speed , including anti-religious humor, a lot of of disconcerting bullfighting set pieces that turn out to be sometimes cheesy and tiring .The ensemble cast has some nice moments in the film , with two excellent players , Kara Elejalde and Gloria Muñoz. The secondary interpreters are pretty good such as Silvia Bel , Javier Gurruchaga , Pepo Oliva , Eduardo Antuña , Jorge Sanz , and recently deceased Juan Diego who is one of the best reasons for watching the movie and the rest responded well to the new filmmakers.

The film was lousily directed by Karra Erejalde . This popular actor is considered to best one of the best Spanish comedians, though he has also made notorious dramatic roles , being known for Los cronocrímenes (2007), También la lluvia (2010) , Ocho apellidos vascos (2014) , its sequel Ocho apellidos catalanes , 100 metros (2016) , 1898 Ultimos de Filipinas (2016) , Que baje Dios y lo vea (2017) La Fortuna (2021) , among others. Rating . 3.5/10 . Below average . Only for Karra Erejalde hardcore fans.

Awful!!!

Basilio lives doing little robberies, one day, as he can make the business of his life, decides to act as a mad to enter into a psychiatric to rob a precious necklace. The main problem is that it is hard to know who is more crazy, doctors or patients. These absurd sanatorium will cause so great impact in Basilio that he will have to follow a "Torapia" to be able to go out of the hospital. "Torapia" means some kind of weird bull-therapy and he will have to make a "corrida" to heal his mind. This absurd movie is done by the director of the laughable movies: Airbag and Año Mariano. However, this time the movie results too much stupid to result funny, all the scenes are incoherent, there is not any good joke and there is a curious obsession in bulls that results disgusting. Probably Elejalde's worst movie, it is better to avoid watching it.
